A peak flow meter. It's used over a period of time to get a good idea about your respiratory health and patterns. Talk to your doctor about your cough. It does sound rather asthmatic. Your doctor may also prescribe a peak flow meter and teach you how to use it. A dry cough could also be pneumonia or some other source. See your doctor.

From experience with a dry cough (seasonal) Your dry cough can be related to ashma, allergies, bronchitis, or other respiratory related conditions. The steps you are taking are the best to go see your ears, nose and throat specialist.

Lastly, please keep in mind that irritants can also effect your cough. Smoking, pet dandruff, plant life, symptoms of a cold, or some other illness. So before you get worried about a serious condition see your physician for the necessary tests.

Wow, I had that dry cough for about 2 months this winter. Praise God its gone now. I recommend drinking tons of water. I even took a spill proof bottle of water to bed and sipped at it all night long so that I could get a little sleep.
