My 13 yr old started having mid abdominal pain yesterday. It has moved more to the right and lower. In the middle of the night she broke out in a sweat and felt like she was going to vomit. She still feels nauseated, but hasnt thrown up. She said when she moves around it hurts her more but if she is lying down it doesnt hurt as bad. Could this be appendicitis?

Take her to the doctor. If it is and it errupts, you are going to feel really bad for not taking her earlier.

There is a great chance that your daughter may have appendicitis, all the signs that you mentioned above are all warning signs of an inflamed appendix.

Pain at the lower left quadrant usually accompanied by low grade fever

Nausea

Vomiting

And try this technique called Rovsing's sign,
Rovsing's sign is a sign of appendicitis. If palpation of the lower left quadrant of a person's abdomen results in more pain in the right lower quadrant, the patient is said to have a positive Rovsing's sign and may have appendicitis.

Please go see a doctor as soon as possible to prevent any further complications.

And one more advice, please don't try to give her any pain reliever as much as possible, why? because it can mask the pain which can make it hard for the doctor to make a diagnosis if it really is appendicitis. You can give her pain relievers after a diagnosis is made.

Hope my tips can help you out. Now get your daughter to a doctor as soon as possible.=)

Things the dr. will do...they will push on her right lower side, and if it hurts worse once they stop pushing (when they let go), it's a good sign it's appendicitis. That is called rebound pain. Another thing, is to have her jump up and down, if the jarring when she lands hurts her worse, it's another good sign. They did these things to my neice when she had appendicitis. At least go get a white count done at the dr. to be safe.

Put her on her back. Have her raise her left leg--this should not hurt if it's appendicitis. Have her raise her right leg--this should be VERY painful if it is appendicitis. If this is the case, take her to the hospital NOW!

Sounds like you should anyway.

It very well could be. Take her to a doctor ASAP. My dad had appendicitis years and years ago and it ruptured and nearly killed him.
