Does alcohol just increase blood pressure full stop. Or does it decrease it soon after drinking and then the pressure increases later? Or what?

I had Atrial fibrillation in January 2006. I have been doing OK since then. I was prescribed 50 mg of Atelonol, but have been taking only half of the dosage during the last two months. I finally got my heart tests results yesterday (8/2/2006) and the stress test was negative as well as the X-rays. The doctor said, “You didn’t have irregular heartbeat and no anomalies were found. The nuclear test was also good.” I was so happy! Then he checked the Echo and said, “You have an enlarged left atrium.” Now I am so scared that I can drop dead at any time. I feel energetic, my cholesterol is good, and I have no hypertension. Nobody has had heart attacks in my family and I am (female) in my30's.

Not only that but apparently all the excess blood rushed up to his left eye and now it is so swollen he can't see. I would like to better understand this to help him, but am not sure what to research. Please help.

Right now, my dad has been diagnosed with a-fib for a few years. They have ran quite a few tests and are finding the cause. Instead, the doctors have been prescribing medication which has been progressively increased over time which now has caused an indigestion problem.

For the past few years, he has not only faced this health problem but other stressful events that are mentally stressful than physically stressful. He can perform physical work fine, but when he falls for some reason, his heart goes out of sync, but he is also thinking about the effect of what is hurt and not being able to be with his friends later.

my cousin and i are thinking of going on a vacation, bak east in the fall (october). the only problem is her dad is getting more stents put into his heart next week. he already has 8, and does not have problems at all, just blockages (he is not in any physical pain and he is in his early 50's). but my aunt will be going on international business trip convention then. so do you think we should plan our vacation and go or skip it until next year?
