Recently, I found out that my uncle has this weird condition where his heart is swollen. Not only that but apparently all the excess blood rushed up to his left eye and now it is so swollen he can't see. I would like to better understand this to help him, but am not sure what to research. Please help.

He lives in Vietnam. The only people I can ask are my family members but they don't really know what's going on either...

There are many answers given in here.. one that is not present is that of an atheletic heart.. you don't give the age of the uncle.. could be the prime factor. Further, there is ventricular hypertrophy which is what is associated with the athletic heart or the other condition would be vegetative valve due to (generally) the toxin of the streptococcus bacteria. The connection with the eye is a pretty long shot, in the dark..

Cardiomyopathy
1. Cardiomyopathy
2. Nonischemic Cardiomyopathy
3. Dilated (congestive ) Cardiomyopathy
4. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle. The heart loses its ability to pump blood and, in some instances, heart rhythm is disturbed, leading to irregular heartbeats, or arrhythmias. Usually, the exact cause of the muscle damage is never found. Cardiomyopathy differs from many other heart disorders in a couple of ways.
First, the types not related to coronary atherosclerosis are fairly uncommon. Second, unlike many other forms of heart disease that affect middle-aged and older persons, certain types of cardiomopathies can, and often do, occur in the young. The condition tends to be progressive and sometimes worsens fairly quickly.

an enlarged heart(or hypertrophy) is caused by the overworking of cardiac muscle, heart is made of muscle like a biceps and becomes larger with increased use. Unlike a bicep, an enlarged heart is not good. It could be caused by a multitude of differnt problems like being overweight having poor circulation or bad exercise habits. Look for more under Medline, there is a wealth of good health info there.

This happens when the person is over weight not all the time but maybe 70% of the time. They say it comes from not taking care of yourself properly greasy foods,or not understanding you had a health issue and let it go untreated.I had a good friend who passed comming up a year in a few days and he knew but he love to eat,and he was one of the nicest people you ever wanted to meet.He looked at it as a joke, although he knew it wasn't funny. But he said he knew something was wrong becuz it was hard for him to breathe and pains in his chest that would run down his arm.And weakness of his legs. And fluid build up at times.I hope unk get's better soon God bless him and your family to make it through.Take care.

Cardiomegaly if that is what you are referring to is fairly common and can easily be treated in any country. what really worries me is the other thing that you mentioned. excess blood rushed up to his eye?? and not any eye the left one to be precise.
You got me there, wish i had an answer for you there but i don't
