Hemiplegia;it occurs on the opposite side of the brain where the cva(stroke) occurred.;right side.If right sided hemiplegia occurs the patient will not be able to speak as the left side of the brain contains the motor speech area(Broca's area).,as well as controlling movement of the right leg and arm.The side affected opposite the cva is referred to as the contralateral side;the side which is normal,or on the same side of the cva is referred to as the ipsilateral side.Hope this is not too much information.
