First thing in the mourning on your back. This is when your heart is at rest the most. To see if there is a problem, compare it to a reading before you go to bed. Then discuss your findings with a Doctor.

you should check your BP when you're calm, and you need to sit down with both feet on the floor and you cannot talk until you get the results or else it well mess the results up

after having relaxed for 5 minutes, and be in a comfortable position. laying down/sitting down etc.
