Someone claims that his father died of a stroke and that upon autopsy of the body he was told by the coroner that the stroke was caused by an injury that occurred about 15 years earlier. Is that likely or very believable?

I had an EP study of my heart done and the doctor didn't find anything wrong with my heart. The eletrophysologist suggested that I suffer from anixiety and that is what is causing me to feel my heart racing and suggested seditives. I am not a nervous kind of person, and when I am nervous my heart doesn't race. My heart does race on occassion when I am watching television, sleeping, eating, or doing nothing at all. Before the procedure I was on Verapmil 120 BID and Toprol XL 100 BID. My heart is racing now more than ever and my blood pressure is 150/100. Any and all advice would be aprechiated.

I have also heard that chelation therapy will basically clean out all of the "muck" that has built up in other parts of your body as well -- including other vital body organs. My understanding is that this therapy can be given orally, intravenously, or by suppository. I have read reviews by medical doctors on this subject, and while some say it works great, others say that it does not work. Does anyone out there have any personal experiences to convey?? Dave.

I had a blood test and an ekg taken while I was the ER from a fainting spell (my first). My 'readout' that I brought home from the ER said under the title, Cardiac Markers, ....."Troponin I.......<0.10"
What does it mean? I was alarmed when they told me to see a cardiologist. I have an appt made already. I do feel fatigued allllll the time. No pains though.

About 6 years ago, I had a 60% lung collapse on my right side out of the blue. I was hiking in Yosemite and I noticed I was coughing alot. About 3 weeks later, my lung collapsed and I thought I was going to die. I though it was a heart attack. So scary. My doctor thinks it might have been caused by general asthma. It still worries me to this day b/c I never want to experience that again! Has anyone ever experienced this? If so, please let me know your feedback. Thank you!

I took my Son to the Hospital for a Strong Cough and tightness in his Chest. The ER Doctor said he had Bronchitis and he had some Fluid in his Lungs (No X-Rays were taken at that time). He was prescribed Steroids, Antibiotics, and an Inhaler. 2 Days later my son started having Abdominal Cramps, Diareaha, and he was Vomiting, we took him back to the Hospital. A different DR. from earlier said he had a Bladder Problem (it was retaining Fluid and putting pressure on his Bowels). So the Doc ordered a Cathiter and kept my son overnight. later that night we were told my Son was having trouble breathing and was taken to C.C.U. at 4:07 A.M. my Son Died from an enlarged Heart. The Medical Records said he was given a morphine drip for pain (his pain was at a 5 on a scale of 0 to 10). He had an allergic reaction so was given Narcan to reverse the Morphine. his Heart Rate went to over 200 BPM. so he was given someting to slow his heart rate. it slowed to 45 BPM.

My husband was told smoking after bypass surgery would kill him. He was supposed to have a 6 way bypass and the doctor could only do a quadruple, he could not by pass the other two veins they were to far gone. He is only 50 years old and the doctor was shocked at how bad his arteries were 1 completely blocked, 1 90% blocked and 2 about 80% blocked he went a year with angina and never said nothing until he was traveling for work in mexico and he had chest pains there, he made a doctors appt when he got home, 2 weeks later he flunked his stress test in 4 minutes. He was kept in the hospital until after the open heart surgery. He was told smoking again would kill him and we his family members were told that as well, we were also told he will live a comfortable life, but not be the same. He says he feels better, and it took him 50 years to get into that shape, he probably doesn't have 50 left so if he wants to smoke he is going. Is this really as devasting as I think?

I'm a 23 year old male with no past medical/surgical history. I do not take any prescription drugs; however, for the past 4-5 years, I've been taking the over the counter weight loss supplement called "Xenadrine." I took it for 3 years WITH the ingredient ephedra, and 2 years without it, after the FDA removed that ingredient. My weight went from 310 to 155, and recently up to 185 (i'm trying to lose 30 pounds but that's a whole other story).

For the past few months, I've had a few very scary episodes of sudden shortness/loss of breath accompanied at the same time by a feeling in my chest as if my heart stopped for a split second. This does not happen when I'm active - it ONLY occurs when I'm at rest, such as when I'm sitting or laying in bed. There are no other symptoms, and it only happens about once or twice a week. What could this possibly be? I prefer answers only from healthcare professionals please, because I am not interested in uneducated guesses. Thanks.
