My dad is a 57 year old male. We have no insurance. He has always been healthy and been on no medications. He has had a bout of kidney stones in 1999 and had similar problems a couple of days ago. He went to the doctor and everything went fine with that, but the Dr. wanted to order some lab work because he has never had any done. He had a EKG that was normal other than bradycardia (slow heartbeat). His chest x-ray however came back abnormal. We are going for a follow up in a couple of weeks, but I am worried about the chest x-ray findings. It said that he had ASVD and borderline cardiomegaly with aortic calcification. I also should note that his Cholesterol was 159 normal. HDL and LDL was normal, but on the bad end of normal. The lipid panel showed a high risk factor of heart attack and stroke. Please help me understand and what can be done. Like I said we don't have insurance and live on a limited income. I would appreciate any help !!

I found out 3 years ago that I had a heart murmur, then when I started school they let me know that I had one as well, and I told them that I was already aware. Then I went to the dentist and I told her that I had a murmur and she wanted to know the extent of it so she is not responsible for me losing blood and going to the e.r. When I went back to find out how bad it was they had told me that I no longer had one that it is a periodical murmur and I can't seem to find anything on it.

For some time now I have been having these pains in my chest. To add on to that I have a heart murmur and yesterday while climbing up the stairs I nearly blacked out, and my heart started beating very rapidly. I don't want to worry my boyfriend or family about it even though they are concerned about my health.

I went to the dr today due to sharp pains in my lower back, abdomen, and pelvic area that came on all the sudden. I was thinking uti because I had gotten these when I was pregnant. They took my bp and it was 152/110. They checked it 3 times while I was there and it was about the same everytime. I just checked it at home tonight & it was 148/105. I am extremely worried about this since I am so young and am worried that this may be my kidneys causing me pain. I have had high blood pressure in all 4 of my pregnancies with the last 2 pregnancies being back to back, it has been 5 months now since I gave birth and my blood pressure has been high everytime I go to the doctor since then but never this high, with pain in the kidney region too. The doctor said this was a uti and told me to monitor my pressure at home but I am scared this has something to do with my kidneys.Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? What should I do if I feel this way and my dr chaulks it up to a uti?

I'm having an ablation done next week for VT, I've tried to research the doctor who is doing this (Dr. Robert Styperek) in Rome, ga. I can't find any info on him. It says that he is just an M.D. and F.A.C.C, which i don't know the meaning of!! I'm terrified to have this done, can anyone give me some advice and has anyone ever used him before? He works at Redmond Regional ?!!!!

I had a bit of a scare this morning and my heart was very irregular for about 2-3 minutes. I was admitted to hospital for a few hours for an ECG but everything turned out fine but not conclusive. I've had slight murmurs now and again over the past few weeks but nothing like this morning and it scared me. I don't drink regularly, smoke, take drugs (aren't I boring?!) and eat pretty healthily and I'm only 31. The doctors said they've done tests for thyroid problems which will take a few days to come through and if not I may need medication to make my heartbeat regular. Just wondered if any professionals out there have any further advice on what will happen if it is my thyroid or ways to prevent it happening anymore? Many thanks.
