Is Hypertension a medical disease or is it merely the symptom of another disease?

Hypertension is high blood pressure and what I need is documentation that it can or cannot be a disease on it's own.

Its a disease brought on from an unhealthy life style...generally a bad diet ...& lack of excercise......It can be reversed and erased, so dont let it get you down...its also a genetic trait...you may have gotten it through your mom or dad...Its more prominet in black and pacific rim people...

Hypertension is a condition in itself, rather than a disease, that is caused by other factors in your body. For example, if you have CAD (coronary artery disease), or vascular disease, these can cause high blood pressure. IN 90% OF CASES NO REASON FOR HYPERTENSION..in rest of cases reason is known ..u have to check
