Yes, sort of. toprol XL is a once-a-day version of the (now generic) medicine metoprolol. You can ask your PCP to change you to twice a day metoprolol, which is significantly cheaper. Lotrel is a trade-only combo pill of amlodipine and benezepril; one of the ingredients (norvasc or amlodipine) is not yet generic and is almost equally expensive if taken alone instead of as a combo pill

I've been prescribed "lopressor" and given 'metoprolol' as a generic.
Check with your pharmacy.
