Statins are basically used to lower the cholestrol/triglyceroids in the blood. One of the risk factor for clogged arteries is Hyperlipidemia (high Cholestrol/Triglyceroids) in yours lipid profile. Cholestrol is yellowish fatty substance, and Triglyceroids is whitish fatty substance in the blood.
Basically Statins are not liver friendly, and one should check his Liver profile after 3/6 months of its use.
