Hello, I'm a 37 year old runner who is in fairly athletic shape. I started having chest pain after vigorous workouts a year ago, and they have continued off and on without going away. I just worked out yesterday after a layoff and the problem came back.:

-I had everything tested...stress text, x-ray, echo, and 24-hour Holter, all found nothing. With a general practictioner, haven't been to a cardiologist yet.
-If I work out at a 140 beats per minute level, no problems (I think).
-If I work out in the 155+ beats per minute range, that evening it will feel like an "electrical storm" in my chest...can't really say there are skipped beats or extra beats, it just feels "arrythmic", such as beating too hard or fluttery. But again, tests have found nothing. Then, while I sleep, I wake up a couple times with mild/moderate chest pain. I would say somewhere between mild and moderate.

I plan on seeing a cardiologist...things just seem "off". It's uncomfortable today, but not awful

I was diagnose with an irregular heart beat in my lower heart last year.My Dr. put me on atenolol to regulate my heart beat, athought it doesn't make my heart beat completely regular, it does help. But since I started taking it my blood pressure goes way up if I miss a dose(around 145/98). I would like to stop taking it because I don't feel the benifits are worth the risk, and if it doesn't make my heart beat completly regular is it really doing it's job anyway?A Dr's oppinion would be nice for I live on an island with only one Dr so a second oppinions are very hard to get.

hi all hope you can help, my mum is 89, and has atrial fibrilation, however she has just had a blood results back and the levels have double in the last year

creatimine levels 109 to 209 in the last year
urea levels 25 to 15 in the last year

doctor has lowered the 80 mg frusemide dose to 40 mg, however I am just wondering what affect this would have? and also if thiis does not work what can be done? I only ask this question as I have not had much luck with several doctors, and I had to insist on a blood test when she previously had digoxin toxicity (however the doctors did not believe me, she ended going to hospital with it). Thanks again take care

My grandad had a heart attack not long ago and his dad had one. My dad might be on the way to having one at roughly the same age. Is it possible for me to avoid this or is biological inheritance impossible to bypass?

Okay, this ranks high oin the Doh! list.
I sent off for some medications, but I think they sent me the wrong kind.It is Lisinopril 20mg, and normally it is an ablong pink pill with the numbers 1114 on one side and 93 on the other.
I got my mail order prescription, but it does not look right. It is white, in a 5 sided shape and has the numbers 3760 on one side.I have looked on the web and found my old tablets, but not these new ones. How can I tell at this time of night if these are correct?

my step father has an iron defficency, he has been having stomach pains for the past couple months. they are sharp pains, kind of liek gas pains, located at the very top of his stomach. they come and go, sometimes occuring every day, and sometimes they wont return until the next week. he also has a low red blood cell count, was previously on plavix and has had a stent put in his heart. he has an appointment with a doc. but they can get him in for a few months, plus money is a factor. if anyone is familar with this, or knows anything that might lead us in a direction, please let us know.

I went to the doctor today after dealing with palpitations for the past three days. I knew it was some type of irregular heart beat. They performed an EKG and saw the palpitation and said it was a PVC. But she acted as if was no big deal and wanted me to have my blood taken and to see her in 2 weeks. I am still having the palpitations regularly. But I am 30, relatively healthy, and not having any serious chest pains or numbness. I do have a family history of heart desease. Should I just go tell my general practioner to jump in a lake and go straight to a cadiologist? Two weeks seems like an awful long time to wait for a follow-up.
