Heart attacks do have alot to do with genes. If your family has a history of them or a history of obesity or heart problems you are at greater risk of one.
However, with the proper diet and the proper amount of exercise you can decrease your chance of having one by alot.
The more fats you eat, the more clogged your arteries become. Stay away from bad fats and eat things that are good for your heart (such as tomatoes).
Every time you exercise, your heart creates new blood vessels. Exercise is crucial for a healthy heart.

Unfortunately, heart disease is genetic. Maybe it will come to you and maybe it won't, no one knows. What you can do is to focus on the factors you can control. Don't smoke, even one, even cigars. Keep your cholesterol in check. This can be genetic as well. Keep your blood pressure down. Both these are related to weight, so stay at a healthy weight. Exercise daily to keep your heart strong, so you will have a better chance of surviving a heart attack if you have one.
Most of all, tell your family doctor about your family history and follow his/her directions to the letter.

not necessarily but eating right and excersice will also help as well as asprin amazing but true: aspirin has been proven in many studies to help prevent both heart attacks and strokes. Aspirin thins the blood a little in a way that decreases heart disease risk. Acetominophen and ibuprofen will not do the same thing. Aspirin should be a routine part of any effort to decrease the risk of developing heart disease, but talk with your doctor before starting it.

Heart disease can definitely be inherited. This is usually more concerning if they had attacks at a young age(under60). You cant change biology but you can do everything else to prevent one such as not smoking, keeping your BMI correct for your height, eat healthy, and exercise at least 3 times a week.

Go to the doctor, let the doctor know your family's health status. Of heart, etc. If you watch your salt intake (for blood pressure), and watch the trans fats (the man made fats) and use olive oil canola oil, to cook with, real butter, not margerine (natural stuff), and at least go for a 30 min. walk per day, and try to keep the stress down (walking helps), that should help to keep that from happening to you. Take care.
