Hi im 16 nd my monthly sugars hav been on the rise 4 the past year(approx) my last Hba1c was 10.1 i do realise this is high but i still eat sweet things as a rebellion to my illness. I have told my doctor this and he said I cant change it so I have to cut out the snacks. Im still rebelling against the diet I am set and have recently stopped taking my doses of novo-rapaid as i cant see any difference to when i take it as I have stopped taking my BMs and developed an excess amount of fat where i take my injections on my stomach around 2yrs ago. My doctor said it would heal/go away with time but it hasent. Can anybody help me regain control and stop rebelling against my regime.

I have type 1 diabetes, i've had it for the past 9 and a half years, i'm 22 now and i am considering having children in the near future. i was just wondering if any women who have diabetes and have kids, how their experiences were?? and how hard it is to control your blood sugars levels during pregnancy.
I now have 4 shots a day, 3 shots of NovoRapid and 1 shot of Lantus, I was recently put on this dose as my old dose of 2 shots of Mixtard 30/70 were making my blood sugar levels jump too high and too low, since i've been put on the new dose, my levels have been very good.

I hate that I have to carry around a candy bar in my purse at all times (incase my blood sugar crashes), and not eat it. ARGH. I tried buying candy bars I don't like and discovered there's no such thing.

Diabetes is a real problem. Obesity is mentioned almost daily in the media. Still when we get type 2 diabetes and have to depend on blood glucose monitoring devices, we still have inaccurate measurements. While there are all sorts of metering devices available, all sorts of Federal regulations, all sorts of FDA testing prior to commercial release, why on earth are our lifelines to good health so inaccurate? Even national laboratories are inconsistent. Our medical professionals depend on their accuracy and we, patients, depend on our meters for good diabetic control. So why are they so wrong. Yes, meters are better than they were twenty years ago. While I am greatful that they even exist, we have such technology as to be able to get to the moon, but I can't get an accurate glucose reading much less an accurate HbA1c reading. For example, my last A1c result was 6.4 in the doctor's office while that same morning my home test was 5.9! It's just a sad state of affairs.

Goes to show how many "not so bright" people we have in our community... apparently no one read the follow ups that I posted and therefore never got any further than the "best answer chosen". Pity. So many people living off of misinformation, but then that is the state of our times.
