Go to the American diabetes association web site there is a trial test for children with a family history of diabetes. You need to feed your son a healthy diet and teach him ways to exercise being overweight puts you at a higher risk for diabetes. Prevention is best.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

My son who is 9, is a type 1 diabetic. He was diagnosed after becoming extremely ill at age 8. He isn't overweight and we have diabetes on both sides also. Just to let you know there is a test, but I believe that someone in your family( immediate and secondary)must have diabetes. I think it is called Trial Net(??) They can test your children to see if they have a gene that pre determines diabetes. My daughter had it done and she was negative. I think it might have age restrictions. But, look this up, it might help. Your son is overweight, which puts him at higher risk. He might not get diabetes, but there is a chance that he will. You need to start now by giving him a healthy diet( read those labels!)Good luck to you and hope this helps.

Don't make it a point that you only check when you think it is time. From this point forward, make sure your child stays off the sweets (sugar). If they get too use to having the sweets, it will be very difficult for that child to keep away from it. It is difficult for us as adults to stay away from the things that are not good for us, so how would we expect a child to do it. Whenever you take your child to the doctor, just ask the doctor to keep checking his sugar level and to make sure it is not too high. My dad is diabetic, my oldest brother is diabetic and now it is affecting his kidney and I just found out that I have slight diabetes too. It is not easy to suddenly change from the things you are use to eating to something totally different with no taste. If the child eats right from that age, he will get use to eating healthily and that will keep him from gaining any more weight or possibly losing the weight and he will be fine.

as a general rule of thumb the dr can check him out at any time if you feel it is waranted by some indicators like increased thirst, urination , abdominal pains, weakness loss of apetite, nausea , vomiting are all red flag warnings if he has been potty trained an urine test for keytones can be done and the dr may also do a test with a glocometer at his office because unlike adults where you stick the finger in pediatric patients under 5 years of age it is best the dr does it as they dont use the finger but the Big Toe hope this helps gorbalizer

I agree w/ MT. When I was 9, my mom and I went to the mall, and she said that I visited every water fountain and bathroom in the building twice. Excessive thirst and urination is a big clue. I was also losing weight b/c everything I was eating wasn't getting to my cells w/o the insulin. She caught my symptoms in time--she's a diabetic, so she knew. Most of the kids I knew had to spend time in the hospital, a week or so, b/c no one knew in time to catch it.

If you over feed your child, he/she will get diabetes!! You did not say which type of diabetes (Type 1 or 2) runs in your family as type 1 occurs in children and type 2 in adults. To save your child, please do feed yr child when the child is hungry only and avoid fast, fat foods and foods with tons of sugars, especially sodas and corn syrup! Eat a lots of vegetables (green peas) or fruits. Best wishes.
