I have had knee pain for years and finally went to the doctor. They took x-rays and saw a 2 inch lesion in my left knee. Now I'm scheduled for a MRI. What do they hope to see in the MRI? Also what is the chances that this is cancer or something else?

Back in the 70's my mother had cancer. She went to Mexico and used a drug called Layatrill, At least I believe that is the spelling, Anyway I remember she got in alot of trouble for bringing it into the states (my mom the drug trafficker) It really seemed to work, Why would our government stop something that worked?

I heard 2 different theories. One states that if you were born with a mole ( or more ) on your body, you are at a high risk of getting cancer if you do not get it removed.

The other states that if you have it/them surgically removed, that will be a high risk of cancer.

Just askin cuz i have a tiny mole on my back and it drives me nuts. I wanted it to get removed but without bad consequences.

I have a friend who as of today was just diagnoised with breast cancer, stage 2. We are thinking of trying to get her down to Cancer Treatment Center of Zion, IL and was wondering if anyone had any good (or bad) experiences there and if they considered the treatment appropriate and helpful. We live 500 miles from there, but we want to see if we can get her up there. Just wanting some input, thanks.

A 43-year-old man with no significant medical history presents to his primary care provider (PCP) complaining of a "wound that won’t get better" on the left side of his neck. He states that the wound has been slowly growing over the past 2 years after it first appeared as a small pimple. In his efforts to heal the wound, he has used a variety of over-the-counter topical remedies such as hydrogen peroxide and triple antibiotic ointment; however, the wound has continued to spread and worsen. He was finally encouraged to visit his PCP when his brother noticed the now several-centimeters-long lesion (see Images 1-2). The patient denies having weight loss, fevers, or chills. He has not traveled during the past 5 years.

On physical examination, the patient is somewhat overweight. His vital signs are normal except for a blood pressure of 165/93 mm Hg. The examination of the head, eyes, ears, and nose is unremarkable. The patient has a 10-cm ulcer at the collar line on the left side of his neck. A homemade dressing that the patient had placed on this lesion contains a small amount of serosanguineous fluid. No lymphadenopathy and no masses are noted around the neck or in the armpits. The patient’s lungs are clear, and his heart rate is regular with normal heart sounds. The rest of the physical examination findings are unremarkable, except for numerous small hyperpigmented macules on the patient’s chest and back.

What is the most likely diagnosis, and what is the diagnostic test of choice?

He has 3 cycles left will they do a CAT scan in between? Or will they have to do all 3 no mater if the tummors are gone? Chemo durgs are not somthing to mess around with and I want to make sure if they don't over do it. He only has tescular cancer and they reoved the testie already.

I was told that cancer is not forigen to our bodies so white blood cells don't feel it's a invader. White blood cells also contain the cancer into the lumps or masses. So if that is true when a surgen cuts into a cancer mass by accident and it spreads to the body thats bad. So if Chemo lowers your white blood cell count are we doing a chemcial surgey on the masses to cause the cancer to spread attatch to another part of the body to create a different strand?

Of course when anyone passes its a tough time. I and my family have made the descision to end all support for my dad. he has terminal cancer and has been fighting it for 3 years. He now has moved down hill very rapidly and drasticly. We have talked to his doctors and medical peronal and came to this descision. he didnt want to be left on anything if there was no hope, and there is not any.

He has been fighting infections and cancer for quite sometime. He has been taken off his anitbiotics and TPN wich is a intervenious *sp* feeding. does anyone know how long, it takes nature to take its course? this is such a difficult time for all of us. I am 7 months Pregnant and we were all hoping he would get to see his first grandson. If any one else has been throught this and has anything to share its aprecated. Please for those of you who are judgemental , you dont need to leave any comments. its our descision to make not yours.. Thanks to everyone who will answer.

Do doctors replace your bladder with a substitute that mimics the way the bladder works? or is there a way to live without your bladder? Or do you just die?

I like to know if you have cancer and you are not getting well, and a hospice nurse comes to see you, does that mean it is the end?

My girlfriend's daughter has cancer of the liver and lungs, and she just told me that a hospice nurse was coming to see her daughter today.

Thank you.

I just got back from a dermatologist who removed a growth I had on my nose. While we are waiting for the results of the biopsy, he felt almost certain that it was basal cell carcinoma. While this in and of itself isn't all that scary, the fact that I'm only 27 years old concerns me, and the doctor did mention that that is pretty unusual. If in fact it is BCC, does this mean anything serious for me, or will it just be a matter of bathing in sunscreen every morning and getting regular checkups?

Also, I should mention that I am pretty fair-skinned, and while I have never intentionally tried to tan or anything, I have had some pretty nasty sunburns in my life, especially on my nose, but it wasn't any more frequent than once every year or two.

I have discovered a small bump under my skin on my forearm. Its not visible to the naked eye, I only knew it was there because I felt it. It also happens to be under an unraised freckle. I also have a family history of cancer. My father had Melanoma twice. Should I just go directly to a Dermatologist or have a General Practitioner refer me if they feel a need too. I am very scared this could be cancer...
