Yes you can.It can be caused by tobacco,alcohol,sun and if you have had a previous head and neck cancer you are at an increased risk of developing another one.These usually occur on the tissues of the lip and tongue.They can also occur on the cheek lining,floor of mouth,gums and the roof of the mouth.Cure rate is approx 75--80% 5 yr if found early and 50% 5 yr if it has spread to lymph nodes or other adjacent structures

Smokers up to 10 times more likely to die from mouth and throat cancer....although the risk of dying from mouth and throat cancer is around ten times higher among male smokers and five times higher among female smokers compared with someone who has never smoked its alot...
