Gall bladder surgery is generally done with 3-4 small incisions. She can go home later the same day or the next if she wants to stay for observation. She'll be sore, but will heal quickly. If they have trouble removing her gall bladder this way, then she will need the traditional, larger incision. With this type, recovery is longer, as is the hospital stay. Good luck to her.

It used to be, but nowadays, it's fairly straightforward and routine. If she's been having problems with nausea, vomiting, pain, etc, caused by the gallstones, she'll probably feel much better. Well, once the tiredness and pain caused by surgery and the anesthesia wears off, that is :)
Help her out for a few days so she can rest and recuperate, if you can.
Good luck, and I send my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

as far as sugery's go, it's common place. no big deal. it's usually done laprascopically now and even if it isn't,the surgery itself is a piece of cake. i had it done years ago. gallstones are very common for women in their childbearing years.
