Novelos' pipeline of drugs is based on oxidized glutathione, a natural metabolite that is part of the glutathione pathway. This pathway is the primary determinant of intracellular redox (oxidation/reduction) potential and, as such, plays a key role in cell protection (e.g. detoxification) and in regulation of cell signaling pathways (e.g. leading to cytokine production). Novelos’ lead products are believed to act, in part, via post-translational modification (glutathionylation) of critical regulatory proteins that mediate processes including immune function, cell proliferation and tumor progression (in combination with chemotherapy). They may also sensitize tumor cells to certain chemotherapeutic drugs by modifying drug detoxification processes.

I was told that was a very possible reality for me several years ago and as I waited for the two months until my surgery "which may result in the removal or aggravation and spread of the cancer", I called some people and wrote to others and told them all how I felt about them. Some had flaws which I offered solutions for, some had desires and dreams with no support so I gave them mine, and some were doing just fine and I still spoke highly of them.

I took walks in the sun and the rain with my wife, we went to Hawaii, long weekend road trips, played card games with each other, and stayed close. I also started to work on my Bachelor's Degree to help give me even more motivation to hang around for a while and be the first in my family to get a degree - I'll graduate next May. : @ )

Unfortunately, I am facing this situation. Ten years ago I was first diagnosed, and found out that I was only given a short amount of time to live. I found a new husband, travelled a bit, and spent more time with the people I love. When it became apparent that my prognosis was not as short as expected, I went back to college and earned my diploma. Now that I'm facing a recurrence, I am going to do everything possible to beat this thing and make sure all the important people in my life are touched positively by having known me.

Well, since my mother died from Ovarian Cancer, her sister has Uterus Cancer, and my step-mother has Breast Cancer, this is something I have thought about before. I am not sure we know what we would do until it happens, but I try to live each day without any regrets if I found out tomorrow I had it. I am sure I would try to spend as much time as I had left on this earth fighting it as hard as I could, researching as much information on it as possible, and spending the most time I could with the people I love.

Try to make sure that my loved ones are taken care of as best I can. Worry less about those things that used to seem important, but now seem trivial. Start giving away those things that I want people to have. Make sure my spiritual side is in order. Appreciate my friends more. Try to accomplish some personal desire within the time and resources left me. Use what I have learned about this miserable process to try to help those just learning about their impending demise to handle it well. Try not to slip into depression and self pity. Try to go out with honor and dignity!

If I knew that I had cancer and only had a few months to live, the first thing I would do is to get myself right with God if I haven't already. I would accept Jesus Christ in my life and heart. I would apologize to everyone that I did wrong. Whether or not, they accept my apology is up to them. If I could afford it, I would take a trip to Europe. I would like to go to Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. Most importantly I make sure that I had a will written out.

I would want to be in a boat wind blowing in my face with that free feeling. I would say don't be sad I had a great time and don't waste your time missing me. Go find your peace in life as I have. Take care of the animals instead of flowers!

My husband has terminal cancer. We take trips when he feels up to it. Watch movies alot, visit family and friends. Go to church. He tells me he does not want to waste anytime so when he is feeling good he is really busy. He builds race car engines and restores muscles cars as his hobby (passion) so he is building one for me. He is a remarkable man.
