if the size of the cancer is between 0 - 3cm chemo is not regarded as viable, between 3 - 5cm it is left to the patient to weigh up the benefits v side effects, over 5 cm chemo is recommended. my own cancer was 3 cm so must decide by nov 1st. personally i,d rather be told by an expert what to do,. does everyone get side effects, im a builder so will i be to weak to work, are there any help groups in s.e essex ( benfleet) i could contact. thanks for your help

I've got swollen glands on my neck, behind my ear, on my upper back (close to base of neck). I've had itchy skin all over, some increasing breathing problems, and intensifying fatigue. My mother had Hodgkin's Disease around my age (I'm 27). My doctor seems to laugh me off, and says my blood tests are normal.

My uncle was diagnosed with lung, colon, and liver cancer. He was given 1-2 weeks to live. He and my aunt keep mentioning, that they will not see their 50th anniversary. It is next month. Would it be inconsiderate to "celebrate" it now? They have been together actually for 55 years. I suggested it to my MIL and she says it would be a thought, but neither of us is sure on how to approach it.

Well, two days ago my mom gave my family the worst news we could ever hear. She informed us that she had a serious brain tumor called Pontine. We've done a lot of research on the web about it. I was wondering if anyone knows anyone with it or any important facts?! Its a rare tumors for adults, mostly in children below 16! And my second question is, how can i cope with it? I can't sleep, I cry all the time....the first day we found out we couldn't even look at her without crying, but today she's been cracking jokes saying shes dying and telling my dad not to get another girlfriend and stuff like that. It hurts when she makes comments like that, she knows it does. I usually just end up walking out of the room! The thing that scares me the most is that she won't be there to see my 9 year old brother grow up or see us 4 girls get married! We know this tumor is serious because it is in the center of the brain. Therefore it not being localized we dont think they can do surgrey! Help me!

I was once in love online with a terminally ill girl. We talked voice for hours and we shared many laughs. We wished we could be together at least once in our lifes but knew that would never happen. It tore me apart and I wished I could die with her. I cried at work, I cried at night until I could not take it anymore. We broke it off.
I try, tried, to be her online friend still. She is so lonely, depressed and online is all she has. Her latest words sent me in distress, she said to me: "I just wanted some body that would stand by me through anything and maybe something to look forward too or dream about". "But now its like a bog black hole going nowhere".

What should I do? It pains me so much because I know I caused her this pain. I feel guilty. I wish I could be there for her but all we ever had was online. It tore me apart in an already difficult world for me. I wished I could see her but I can not get a hold of her when it is needed.
What can I tell her? What can I do?

My best friend of 13 years has been diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. The doctors gave her 3-5 years. Does anyone have hope of living past that? Is there any web sites I can research to learn more? What is the best thing I can do for her? She lives in Boston MA and I live in Missouri. We talk everyday still with the occasional flight to visit. I couldnt feel more useless right now.

I went to the doctor's office earlier this month and they found a bump on my left breast. They did an ultra sound and they recommended to get a byopsi taken. Is this commen for a 25 year old? I'm a little scared. I've been through a lot in my short life and I wonder if its because of the trauma I've been through. :(

I live in New York State. My company does not feel comfortable with me doing my position while on chemo and they want me to go to part time at another store or go back out on disability(I was for five weeks while starting treatment). My doctor has cleared me to work full time and has told them there is no medical reason for me not to work full time. The problem is that my medical insurance will skyrocket in cost if I switch to part time(not to mention the drop in pay due to less hours worked) and if I go back on disability, then the company can actually terminate me after seven more weeks and then I would be really stuck trying to pay COBRA to keep my doctor(he is one of the best on Long Island) especially without a job.
I do not have money for an attorney but I have contacted the EEOC and the state human rights board. In the meantime, I haven't worked at my job in over a week while they wait for my doctor to respond back to them again. Aren't they discriminating against me??????
