My mom has been undergoing chemotherapy. She has had 3 sittings and during the last one it was really difficult for the nurse to find a nerve to inject the drip. Her nerves are swollen and hard. She has been told that if the next time they do not find a nerve in the hand they will have to inject it in her neck. She has 3 weeks to go before her next sitting. Has anyone faced a similar situation before and is there anyway the swelling and hardness can be reduced in these 3 weeks so that she will not have to take injections in her neck?

I have been wondering where cancer originated from; was it born in some bacterial virus that came from outer space or could it seriously have been created in a lab as some sort of way for population control? I also wonder about hiv, as it was developed from monkeys and man having sex supposedly, then just gays were responsible, than drug users and people who got blood transfusions, and now it seems like anyone can get it. Did these terrible viruses come from scientists in labs?

I have found that prostate cancer is predominate in blacks not because of their skin color, but relative to the physical wrok done as slaves. Most balcks are natural built with more muscle mass than whites and the prostate cancer rate can be traced to the deterioration of muscle mass over a period of time. Other factors include weight gain and the increase of the human life span with respect to sexuality. There is a relationship between sexual aggression and the loss of muscle mass and prostate cancer this also is demonstrated with people have sexual impotency problem having a low prostate cancer rate. Also people using steriods will have a high prostate cancer rate because of the relative decrease in muscle mass.

My friend is 28 years old and she's been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She has a daughter of 6 yrs. old and an inconsiderate family. She's depressed and is slowly giving up. What can I don't to help her? I try to cheer her up and tell her to keep on fighting for her daughter, but she tells me I don't understand because I'm healthy, be that as it may, I love her very much and I worry for her and her daughter because she's all that baby girl has got in this world. I wish she could meet someone who's has gotten through this, because I know there are people out there who are going through the same or have survived. Someone please help.

I had complete kidney failure when diagnosed 4 months ago, which are back to normal levels now. I have had 4 chemo treatments in the hospital for 6 days straight each time and each treatments were every 3 weeks. This is quite aggressive chemo treatment. What is the effect on the heart? Is this when the treatment changes to Thalidamide? At 45 years old, what are my chances of living another 20 years? Is this just wishful thinking? Would bone marrow transplant increase my chances of longevity? As a result of the weakend bones from the multiple myeloma, I also have a fractured hip with causes not only pain, but make it difficult to move around like I used to. I am a white caucasion, have always been anemic, and have had several blood transfusions since this diagnosis. The more I read about multiple myeloma, the more discouraged I become, and then it makes it difficult to sleep or get good rest! Can anyone help me lift my spirits back up, or offer some positive hope?

I'm really not to sure if I do have a form of cancer but there's some signs of it. I'm just to scared to go to the hospital to find because they cost money and I really don't have that kind of money. The surgurey cost almost 33,000 and kemo is like 45,000. So is there any one who can help me with this.
