I'm taking my first course of genetics in college.
In our lab, we conducted an ELISA experiment. After running on gel electropheresis, we observed one band from the gold standard. we had 3bands for non-tumor tissue from a cancer patient. we had 2bands for tumor tissue from the same patient and therefore we concluded that the patient was inherited the germ-line mutation and she or he developped a mutation during life time.
My understanding was that mutation can create a cutting site.
However I had another ELISA experiment that does not support this idea.
In this eperiment, we had 2bands for gold standard, 3bands for non-tumor tissues from a cancer patient. we also observed 1band from tumor tissue from the same patient. Can mutation delete a cutting site? I do not really understand how mutation can create and delete cutting sites. Depends on what kind mutation it is, results seem to differ. Can someone explain this to me please?

x-rays and gamma rays emitted from some radioisotopes chemically change DNA,especially in cells engaged in DNA replication.high-level exposure can result in radiation poisoning.hair loss and damage to the lining of the stomach and intestines are early symptoms.speculate why.also speculate on why highly focused radiation therapy is used against some cancers.

hi ya everyone. well i've done evrything i can do now but basically i went for a biopsy the other day on my neck. doctor said two glands have formed together and theres a unexplained lump jus beside it which is why the lump itself is so big. its been there for over a year now i was lead to belive it was an abcess. my father died at 39 he died of lung cancer. my parner said on the ultra sound it looked like a dark shadow, and doc had to put alot of pressure on needle to get it in.when i asked why its like this he said he dont know? everyone keeps saying 'you'll be fine' but it really gets annoying cause no-one knows that yet,not even me. i've had alot of weight and hair loss which is why i went for tests in first place. i'll get my results on wednesday (i hope) hate waiting and worring anyone been through this before if so what was the out come? good or bad i'd like to know so i'm prepared for the worst, if it is... thank you all so much. xnikkix

My mother was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of Diffused B cell Lymphoma. I've already done a lot of research on the matter but I want to hear from anyone out there who knows or have known anyone with this illness. What problems did they face? What was the outcome of their treatment? What is the survival rate? I love my mother very much and I don't think I could make it without her. I hope her therapy goes well and she can beat this thing. Another question I have is how long before they were diagnosed? My mother was in and out of three hospitals and was even seeing a Cancer specialist for two years before she was offically diagnosed with it. No one knew what she had until last week and she went from a happy, independent woman to incoherant and unable to take care of herself in less than 2 weeks! Does anyone have any anwsers for me? Please?

About a week ago I found a bump on my right breast. I barely squeezed it and white stuff came out. It was not a pimple i know that for sure. Ever since then my entire breast has been sore. I don't know if this is something i should worry about or if it will pass. Maybe i'm just being over dramatic...i am worried though, cancer is so common now days. Should i go see a doctor for a more professional breast exam?

the man has about 5 days to live, refuses to eat or drink (hard to say since he can't speak), and is being pumped with morphine for the pain. my mother says that he should try to send him to the best cancer center, but he says that he might not have a chance. my dad has saved hundreds and hundreds of lives, has made people cancer-free, and given hope to thousands.... don't you think it would be right for him to try his best and to try and save one of his dearest friends? he has a total air head wife who is responsible for him, and she doesn't give two shits about him....

Hi,
When someones white cell count range should be between 2-4 normally (on immuosuppressants) and they have now gone to 18, how bad can that be? Would that indicate some kind of blood cancer or would blood cancer (leukemia) show up alot higher than 18?
Thanks
