I'm 14 years old, and I have been depressed for a little over 2 years. I went to a therapist for a half a year, and she never prescribed me anything, and even I thought it was horomones. I discontinued therapy when I started being happier. Recently I started having panicattacks, constant anxiety, + depression, so I went back to therapy. After only one appointment she offered I go on an antidepressant. I never really took my symptoms that seriously until now, and I'm wondering if I really need one? I don't sleep well, I only eat once a day, all I want to do is lay in bed, I'm pessimistic, I have panic attacks, I'm generally sad alot, I have hypomania occasionly, I wake up tired and stay that way until I sleep, BUT I don't self harm or truely consider suicide. I always took my depression as just part of "growing up," but now that's really weighing me down I'm scared I'm going to have this for the rest of my life. Will antidepressants help me? What about side effects? Will I still be me?

My neice is 14 years old and has been very sick the last month. She finally went in for blood tests and they came back as Hepatitis B. She doesn't have sex, or use drugs. She has never even kissed a boy yet. The only thing that she said was that when she was at camp, they all drank off the same water bottles. It's not passed through saliva though!(?) How could she have contacted this? Could it be contacted through the smallest amount of blood, like off someone's bleeding lip?

I've had problems with eczema as a kid, and had it under control for over 10 years. Now at 24, i've started having problems with it again. I put vaseline intensive care lotion on at least 2 times a day. I try not to scratch, but apparently I'm scratching in my sleep. HELP

My daughter had blood tests last week for coelliac disease. I phoned for the results today and they say that I have to speak to the doctor tomorrow. When I have had blood tests in the past if they were clear they have told me over the phone so am I too assume that she has it because I have to see the doctor. This is really worrying me as not knowing is worse than knowing.
Obviously the doctor is the only one to give me the results but all sorts of things are going through my head and if I can start to deal it now it would help me prepare better for tomorrow.

This is my sons report from his cardiologist,I am not sure what the following statements mean. "there is mild aortic stenosis with a maximal velocity of 2.17 meters per second and extimated peak gradient of 18 mmHg & a mean gradient of 6.9 mmHg. There is mild aortic insufficiency, the width of the jet at the level of the valve is actually quite narrow, the jet does fan out iin certain views to the left outflow tract. no flow reversal within aortic arch in diastole. The acsending aorta is dilated. The remainder of the exam in unremarkable. There are no restrictions however very isometric sports will not be suggested as he gets older." Can someone put this into terms for me if you know. THANKS!!!

I just got over a cold about 2 weeks ago. I wasn't able to go to the Dr. then. I am still wheezing in the morning and at night. I made an appointment but it isn't until Nov 13. I was wondering if my symptoms go away can the still tell me if I had asthma or bronchitis. I seem to get bronchitis everytime I get a cold. But I was wondering if its something else. I did have asthma as a child but out grew it. I also wheeze if I cough or laugh a lot. So I was wondering is the way to tell if its asthma if my symptoms go away?

hi
2 years ago i was doing a routine blood test because i was going to donate blood to a relative , and guess what? the rapid test was positive for hcv ! they told me to do the elisa , i was relieved because i said to myself (sure it will be a false positive) but the elisa came out positive , too .
thats when i felt the world closing in on me ........
you see , i was just graduated from medical university , where i was a top student , and i couldnt wait to sail on into postgraduate study , i dedicated my life to my career in every way..........
i wasnt married yet..................................................
being confirmed as hcv positive was enough to ruin me.

then i read about elisa and i learned that it had a high false positive rate, meaning many people who are positive turn out to be negative on further testing.
and the further test was the pcr.
instead of hurrying to reassure myself and take the pcr , i strangely felt like delaying it as much as i could .
