How do you get rid of blackheads, I have had them for over a year now and can't shift them!!

Go see a pharmasist, there are lotions, potions and even TOOLS for the removal of blackheads.

If I get one I squeeze it out using my knuckles, that way I don't damage the skin with my nails and I can apply more pressure.

Where do they come from? They come from your sweat pores which go into warp drive when one hits puberty. As you've noticed, you don't exactly have to worry about dry skin on most of your body at this age.

The pores get plugged up with dirt, and then the sweat just backs up. Eventually the pressure builds so that the plug is expelled, either as a blackhead, or after it builds to be a zit or boil (ick).

So, you gotta SCRUB (ie, defoliate, sand, buff, remove barnacles, sand blast, etc) your skin at least twice a day. There are chemicals and washes that help you do this -- you'll notice that your skin is pretty tingly when you use them.

In addition, there are chemicals that basically dry your skin (OxyClean etc) so soak up the extra "oils" (ie, sweat).

Beyond that, a trip to the dermatologist is painless (unless you count paying the bill) and they deal w/ this stuff all day long.

Biore strips are good for pulling them out (you can get them in Boots for about £8 a packet).

Unfortunately all the best treatments aren't available in the UK. They sit happily on the shelves of the Superdrug equivalent shops in the USA, and only cost a couple of dollars, but we English are deemed by our government to be too delicate to use them.

most of those face washes don't work as well as the claim. Have you tried a facial steamer? I find it works really well for me, clears everything on your face up. It may dry it out a little at first, but just use a mild moisterizer after ward http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&keywords=facial+steamer&tag=homeandoffi0d-20&index=blended&link_code=qs&page=1

The best way that worked for me is:
"Softly rub your face (where you have comedos) with salt, can also use lemon. Boil water in a pan and band over with a towel over your head or take a warm shower, squeeze the comedo and apply lotion on. "

biore pore strips dont work all that well. a facial mask or a steam would be much much better. and yes they do leave your pores open wider if you try and squeeze them out, so dont do that.
