My boyfriend recently started taking Claritin-D to help with his allergies to dust mites, mold spores and pet dander. While regular Claritin seems to work on his burning eyes and difficulty breathing, it doesn't help with congestion. He started taking Claritin-D to combat all his symptoms, but is discouraged by the price. His doctor is resistant to write a prescription because it is now sold over the counter. He's hoping to switch to a Singulair prescription or something similar so that it is covered by insurance, but is afraid that it won't help with his congestion. Does anyone know if Singulair works as a decongestant as well? If not, what does? Thanks!

Less than a month ago, a friends 11 year old daughter was life lined to the Children's Hospital. She had fainted and would not respond. After testing her, she was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Lukemia. Her treatment plan was chemotherapy for 10 days, hospital stay of 20, home for 2 weeks. She had chemotherapy for 10 days, the following day, she was unresponsive, and the doctor's did not feel she was going to pull thru the night. She did, and further testing revealed she had fungal lesions on her lungs, etc. They operated on her, and removed the lesions, did a bone marrow test, it is now negative for lukemia. It has been two days since the surgery, and we received word that the fungal infection is taking over her body, and there is pretty much no hope left for her. There is an experimental drug out there, but will not receive it before Friday, if she can hang on. Has anyone heard of this?

i have been diagnosed years ago with gerd, and then a few years back, hiatel hernia, now i have a peptic ulcer.... my heartburn comes and goes, but i dont' usually have burning in the chest, usually in the upper area, and throat and mouth... i told that to my doctor years ago, and i guess its normal...so can anyone tell me about all this? i know what the ulcer is, the ONLY thing that helps me get rid of heartburn is nexium? when i was diagnosed with it a week ago, the dr said i can have a mixture of meds...proton pump inhibitor, and antacids.... does anyone out there have any info about this and what meds work best? prilosec, or prevacid doesn't work for me.... they even told me to take double the strength meds if over the counter..... any advice?

Yesterday, my glucose was 35 mg/dl midday (a couple hours after eating). I've never had a reading quite that low before. Then today, I had a level of 140 mg/ld about one hour after breakfast (which was oatmeal). I've never had a reading quite that high before.

As a non-diabetic, should I be concerned? What could be going on?

Thanks.
