I COPIED AND PASTED THIS INFO
Endometritis is an inflammation and/or irritation of the endometrium (lining of the uterus). (See also pelvic inflammatory disease.)
Causes, incidence, and risk factors:
The usual cause of endometritis is infection. This includes chlamydial or gonococcal endometritis, frequently occurring among patients with salpingitis; tuberculous endometritis; purulent endometritis; and endometritis following surgery or other gynecological procedures that require insertion of medical instruments.
Endometritis may also occur following childbirth; abortion (therapeutic, elective, or spontaneous -- all of which can lead to septic abortion), or intrauterine device (IUD) insertion. Other risk factors may include a history of acute salpingitis, acute cervicitis, and other pelvic infections, including many of the sexually transmitted diseases.

No. The very definition of an STD is a sexually transmitted disease. You can't get it from sharing a cigarette.
And endometritis isn't caused by an STD. It can affect any woman of any age. It is a painful condition where the lining of the uterus begins to grow on the outside of the uterus.
Again, it ISN'T an STD.

Brandy S, IS EXACTLY RIGHT!
I had endometritis, it IS A GROWTH inside a woman which IS NOT SEXUALLY CONTAGIOUS in any form. The ONLY WAY to get rid of it IS A FULL HYSTERECTOMY(which i had). It causes very severe cramps, heavy bleeding, periods every 2 weeks, and a real problem in which can become unbearable to tolerate.
So if ANYBODY tells you it's an STD, they're full of ****. Don't listen to them
They also say that having children stops a woman from getting endometritis, and that is also FALSE, it just delays it, that's all.
NOT EVEN A CURETTE FIXES IT! so there u have it.
Don't worry over nothing!!!!!

First off I was diagnosed with endometriosis and I didnt get mine because of an STD since I get tested regularly for STDs and everything came back clean. All endometriosis is, is the lining in the uterus(endometrium) grows outside the uterus like on the anus, ovaries, etc. Its nothing to be alarmed about and its most likely heridetary meaning someone else in the family has to have had it or has it female wise. There is no cure for it though that I am aware of unless a female gets a hysterectomy or something else major to stop the periods. All your cousin will be dealing with is heavy periods and severe cramping that may lead to her having other procedures done to stop the pain.

As far I know STD spread by sexual activities and if someone has oral lesions like syphilis ,then kissing may give problem. But if your cousin is started treatment like antibiotics then she might have less chace of giving to others.
Most important way of preventing STD is to use condom and only have sexual activity with person you know well and he/she is sincere and faith full.
