I have never heard of Irritable Bowel Syndrome affecting your equilibrium. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you aren't drinking enough water. Dehydration will definitely cause both problems.

Just a thought. IBS is often misdiagnosed (actually it is not a diagnosis at all, just a label for patients with bowel problems that the doctor cannot explain). Recent medical studies have found that up to 60% of people diagnosed as "IBS" really have Celiac Disease (gluten sensitive enteropathy).

One of the most serious effects of Celiac Disease is injury to the Cerebellum - the part of the brain that controls balance and equilibrium. This is worth considering as a possible explanation for your situation.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that damages the lining of the small intestine. It is caused by an allergic reaction to the proteins in wheat, rye and barley called glutens/gliadins. The only treatment is total avoidance of these foods.

Simple blood tests can help diagnose this condition.

Best wishes and good luck.

P.S. I have Celiac Disease and was 'misdiagnosed' as IBS for several decades.

because ibs cleanses your system rather quickly alot of nutrients are lost in the process and dizzy spells can occur. drink some orange juice and eat a small piece of candy. just try not to over do it on the sugar because that will make your IBS worse. No research was done for this answer just my own personal experience.

From what I found when I ran a quick search, you might be experiencing dizzy spells because you're dehydrating. Try drinking things that won't excabberate your condition.

Good luck!

Yes, drink a glass of OJ and eat some candy. IBS leads to decreased blood sugar, try keeping your sugar up and see if that helps.
