I got a mosquito bite yesterday, and it is now swolen to maybe a 2x2 inch area and the skin is very hard. It also stays depressed for a long time when I press my nail into it. It's a little painful and very itchy. How come some mosquito bites (and I know it's a mosquito because I saw it bite me) become so painful and large, and other ones are just small bumps that itch with no pain?

I'm allergic to some fruits (such as pears, kiwis, bananas, citric fruits, mangoes, strawberries, etc.) but I heard applying lemons to your face helps reduce acne and oil-free? I've tested by applying a small area of fresh lemon juice to the back of my hand and it felt a little stingy. Is it because I'm allergic or is that normal (I mean...lemon juice is a little acidic...)? Thanks! ^-^

I finally broke down and went to another dr since they were only getting worse and he gave us the permethrin 5% cream to use on the whole family which we did yesterday. My question is, how long does the minor itching and bumps take before they go away? We have washed all the linens , pillows , vaccuumed everything including beds and furniture. Is there any chance that we can become reinfected after cleaning everything and we even dipped the puppy in a solution to get rid of the scabies since he is the one that brought them into the house in the first place i know for fact since they started all over our bodies within 2 days of him being brought here. Is there anything else i should do to prevent reinfestation? And how long will this itching last now that the scabies are gone? Thanks!

Anyone who is a diabetic should understand where i'm comeing from because being a diabetic is very expensive. I'm type 1 and been a diabetic since I was 3yrs old and it's a struggle everyday. Medications are to high. Diabetes is a very serious condition why don't they help diabetics out and you shouldn't have to be 65 and over to get any medicare or medicade or have very low income or a child, they should include people who have diseases at these department of health care services. It shouldn't have to be to a point to where your so ill that you cant do anything for your self to get SSI or any kind of medical help. Also, if they had a insurance plans "just" for diabetics it should cover any and everything.

I have heard that it is impossible to get HIV from shared toilet seats---but what if a woman with HIV/AIDS on her period used the toilet, got a little blood on the seat and another woman with a cut on her leg (or whereever she touched the seat) sat down to use it and made contact with the blood? I know it would be extremely unlikely for this to happen---but it is possible to contract HIV this way in these circumstances?

I'm not worried about it---I've just always wondered. :-)

When a person having common cold comes in contact with a healthy person, the healthy one gets infected (even because of hand shake, kiss or other physical contacts, not sex, and sharing other things) but when a HIV positive person comes in contact (not sex) with a healthy person then can he be infected if he contacts with the positive person in a way similar to the above condition of common cold. Please specify with reasons (yes or not, and why?).

What are the differences between the conditions of HIV and common cold viruses in the body?

Thanks.
