I've always been interested in eating it. I'm in NYC and I did a search online and there are only a handful of Japanese restaurants that serve it, maybe 15 places.

Have any of you actually ate it before? Is it safe when prepared properly? I've heard people feel a numbness of the tongue which gives this fish the exquisite taste; caused from minute doses of the poison not enough to cause harm.

Is there anything in refried beans that can resemble maggots? Tonight I ordered food to go from a Mexican Rest. that I go to frequently. I had a little tub of refried beans. I put some on a tortilla, then put it down on my plate. I noticed in the tub of beans something that looked a lot like a maggot. I grabbed it and looked closer, but wasn't sure. Then I see that the whole tub is filled with the same little maggot-like things. They were all the same shape and color. Examining it, I swear I could see little ridges in them, and they all had little darker ends. Luckily I didn't eat any. My husband thinks they are maggots. I am hoping that there is by chance, something in refried beans that could be confused for maggots. I'd hate to accuse this place of having maggots in their food, unless it's true. Any thoughts?

I followed Rachel Ray's recipe on foodnetwork.com.

It was too salty, obviously too much soy sauce I'm thinking.

I tried it at Yeung's Lotus Express in the mall and it's so good, not too salty, but more oily (maybe sesame or peanut?) Any ideas on this? Thanks so much! :O)

But it needs to be something that is fairly inexpensive and with ingredients that can be found at any grocery store. Any ideas?

What ingredient is it that they put in Chinese & Thai food that gives you the same taste in your mouth long after you finish eating? Also, not to be gross, but when you burp it always tastes the same.

It's a dark colored tea (brown or black) that is very aromatic with a very nice flavor. I remember being served this kind of tea in Chinese restaurants about 20 years ago. Now when I go to most Chinese restaurants and ask for hot tea, they just serve the regular old kind of tea - it's very disappointing. I'd like to buy some of the kind that they used to serve before. Anyone know what it is?

My mom once bought some of it from our favorite Chinese restaurant 20 years back, and she said it didn't look like normal tea leaves. It was wirey black stuff.

I just had Polenta with eggs for lunch and I was wondering... Does Polenta have any redeeming value other than being filling and tasty? I also wouldn't mind getting serving suggestions. Thanks all.
