Oh I forgot my town has 2 bars but I don't like like bars because it makes me scared feeling that the things I order might be drugged... that and I've never in a bar except for one that was a steak house and I was with my big sis and I trust her.

Well you can create a blog where everyone's a critic.

If you're looking to get paid, then that depends upon the local newspaper... Do they look for a journalism/writing degree? Some food background? Also, do they have a budget to pay you and pay for your meals.

A good critic would not announce to the restaurant or receive any comps for the meal so if you're looking at being a food critic to get a free meal, then that ain't going to happen. If it does, I don't think people (readers) will trust your opinion.

> How Do I Become A Food Critic?
Just start bitchin' about your dinner!

Ha ha, okay, I thought is was funny... actually, you could start a food critic blog, say on Blogger or some other blog hosting site. Make it really cool, then promote it like crazy. Maybe someone will "discover" you? Well, maybe not by a blog alone, but it could be another tool to get known. I imagine this is a very competitive "job", like musicians and artists, so in the end it may be more worth it to pursue something else, unless you're ready to do anything it takes to get there.

* whoops, after I typed that up, I saw someone else had also suggested a blog!

I hardly doubt those restaurants are fancy. And you could get your food tampered with anywhere...no greater odds at a bar than any place else. To be a food critic get at least an AA in culinary arts, probably wouldn't hurt to have a degree in hotel/restaurant management.
