The welcome home part is for me and my friends who are coming home from college. anyways i dont have any money. i mean i have some but not enough to buy a whole bunch of stuff. there are going to be like 10 or us. i have asked them all to try and bring something like a pack of soda or a bag of chips. just something small. i am gunna get a few things but i cant feed 10 people. so what should i do? in past parties i have asked people to bring food and some have and some havent. what do i do to have a great party but still be able to have some money left over?

I host parties in which people usually wrestle in pudding, but I thought oil, such as salad or peanut, might be better. I need an oil that is fairly cheap and has the least smell. Everyone I have asked has given a mixed response.

I am having a Christmas party and everyone is bringing 10 dollar grab bags. Any original ideas. No starbucks gift cards, as much as I love 'em, see tons every year. I am willing to spend a little more too. Food probably not such a good idea either. The crowd is mainly ER nurses and their spouses plus a few school-aged children. Thanks!!!

I'm really getting tired of all the "at home" parties where the hostess just wants to make money? What happened to friends getting together to hang out over a glass of wine? Why do I have to buy overpriced makeup, candles, jewelery and other junk?

My friend is turning 21 and we want to throw her a surprise party. We have not/can not decide where to have it. One person said they would like to have it at a pool hall (its a nicer pool hall), but they have a cover charge for minors(which some of the people coming will be minors). The person that suggested that said that they would pay the cover charge for all the minors, but even at that some minors do not want to go to a bar type place. What do you suggest? Would it be best to have it at a persons house? Should I try to get it at an eatery? ideas? thought?

I'm having a Christmas day (5pm) Open House for about 15-20 people. I'll be serving wine, beer, vodka cocktails, and the question is: what kind of hors d'ouerves should I serve? I don't have a big budget, but I'd like to do something classier than cheese and crackers! The crowd is aged 45-60. Thanks!
