I really love potatoes lol

I am really liking sushi all of the sudden. :-)
I'm a vegetarian and it's a great way to get protein and Omega 3 fatty acids. For those of you who are well-versed with this power food, what types are your favorites? What would you recommend for a vegetarian to eat? Are there certain things I should look for to make sure that it's really fresh? (I know that can sometimes be an issue if buying it from a store). What types of sauces/liquids do you like to dip yours in?
Any other tidbits of information are greatly appreciated!
**Merry Christmas!**

So, my sis wants to take me out to dinner for Christmas but I really have to stop eating at restaurants because I have major food sensitivities and just need to start eating healthy again. she wants to take me to a nice restaurant but I know the food will make me feel blech. Should I suggest we do something else? She loves to eat out and I used to, but now the processed, preservative filled foods make me sick.

I live in MA and think that I may be overspending on our grocery bill. This bill also includes cat/dog food (the cats are on prescription food which costs $50/month) and toiletries etc.
We have a budget of $500, but typically spend $700-$1000 if not more!!!! Its getting out of hand! Or is the norm now????

inside my local liquor store. Not sure what USA and Europe beer/wine stores are called(pardon my ignorance--but ours are called LCBO's) but I find it funny that a religion strictly against booze is asking for money inside while I go to buy mine!

How do make a home made cheese fondue? Nothing too complicated, just basic stuff.

Then what can I serve that will go lovely with the cheese?
I know that I can use bread, but is there anything else, or maybe a specific type of bread?

Any advice would be great!

I mean fruit such as bananas and oranges, the fruit you don't eat peels...

My mother always washes before eat them, but I'd never done that until I read in the magazine "Parenting" that you should wash bananas and oranges before you eat because of a bunch of bacterias and germs on the skins.

Do you wash your fruit?

Looking for the name of an old gentleman that used to host his own cooking show. He used to wear bibb over-alls....he drank a glass of wine with all of his meals....he was heavy-set...he was based in Louisiana ( I think ) and cooked mainly cajun/creole dishes......He had a wonderful sense of humor and never failed to insert it into his cooking "lesson". My new boyfriend had one of his cookbooks but lost it. I'd like to suprise him with a replacement. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
So I had to make the carrot cake and let it stay over night because I won't have enough time to make it the day of the event.

I'm a bit paranoid it will be dry because I think I might have left it in too long to begin with. Is there anything I can do to make it moist? This will sound silly but can I like inject pineapple juice inside it somehow or something??? I wish I could try a slice before I serve it, lol. This is my first time making homemade carrot cake.

Also, should I let the cake sit out overnight at room temp. or put it in the fridge? When should I frost it...now or right before serving it???

I made cream cheese frosting homemade as well and so I think that maybe I can't just let cream cheese sit out at room temp...

Ugh...I'm such a newbie to baking! ANY help is greatly appreciated!!!

Happy Holidays.
