we dont its just another usless additive to try and make consumers think they are getting fresher or more healthy products, problem is that all of these additional additives are causing cancer! Many things like the preservatives BHT and BHA and also NITRATES and NITRITES are causing serious cancers, use to be that certain cancers like cancer of the stomach, pancreas, kidneys, esophagus, spleen and liver were RARE, now more and more people are getting them, and it is a DIRECT result of what the body is forced to process with added colors, flavorings, life-extenders, etc. I for one think the government should regulate the food processors to NOT be able to add this JUNK!

Well this has been a pratice of the food industry for a long time. The reason is to make food and drink look fresher and more beautiful to the eyes. They also do this sort of stuff with red pistachios.

We, as human beings, do NOT need this coloring added to our foods. However, this is what is called: Marketing, and all that does is make the product APPEAR to look much more appetizing, and much healthier for us than it really is.
