So for the 2nd time in my life I got a fresh coconut, hoping to make a coconut cake for my hubby. I had an easy enough time getting it open and the milk out, but the milk tasted like nail polish remover, and the coconut flesh wasn't much better. I grated the flesh and rinsed it, then sprinkled with sugar, and toasted it but it was still kind of nasty. The 1st coconut I ever bought was exactly like this as well. There obviously is no way that coconuts are supposed to taste like this, so does anyone have tips on how it should taste, or how I should go about picking out a coconut that doesn't taste like ***? I hate buying the gross packaged coconut, and would love to have an alternative.

I am looking for a Flan desert that uses cream cheese, vanilla, eggs, milk, sugar. I know it cooks for awhile then you cool it and leave it in the frig for 24 hours. Does anyone have this paticular recipe?
Thank you in advance.

I want to make a good dinner for my boyfriend tonight...

I know that I am going to make ravioli with alfredo sauce (one of our fav's at Olive Garden), but I can't think of any good side dishes or appetizers to go with it.

No lectures about health please, but my boyfriend won't eat any fruits or vegetables, so those are out :)

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated (especially if they are easy b/c I'm not a very experienced cook!)

Thanks! :)

I have seen lots of charts for converting OVEN recipes to the crockpot, but am unsure of how to convert a STOVETOP recipe. I have a soup recipe that calls for simmering 8-12 hours. By a standard conversion chart, this would not be able to cook in a slow cooker in a single day, but that can't be right! I'm assuming I should be able to cook it for the same range of time, but don't know whether I should use the low setting or the high setting.

This may sound wierd, but my brother-in-law is graduating college and he asked for a huge red gummy spider. I found a recipe to make gummy bears but I have no clue how to make a jello mold. Can anyone help me? I would really appreciate it.

I'm planning a Shower for my sister. There will be around 25 people there. I have never hosted anything this big before and I'm totally lost with the amount of food I should get. I have a whole menu set, and I'm trying to figure out how much to buy for the platters. I don't want too much food but I don't want there to be too little either.

I'm making a cold cut platter with ham, chicken breast, roast beef and salami. Do you think 500gr of each would be enough? Or should I get more?

Veggie Platter - 1 Cauliflower, 1 pack Celery, 1 cucumber, 3 bell peppers, 2 packages baby carrots and 2 boxes of mushrooms. Do you think these amounts would be enough or more?

Fruit Platter - 1 Pineapple, 1 Canteloupe, 1 Honeydew melon, 1 package grapes. This should be enough right?

I know this all sounds stupid but any help would be appreciated.

All other food I'm doing okay with but I'm just having trouble with the platters. I'm also doing a cheese platter...how many, what kinds? Thnks

Can anyone tell me what caster sugar is? If I can't find it in my market, can I substitute regular sugar in my cookie recipe?
