We've had excellent luck with our Weber grills over the years. Good price, excellent quality and customer service by phone. For us, the size of the grilling surface and features of the grill were more important than BTUs. We like a thermometer in the lid, since most recipes recommend grilling things like steaks over a direct-medium fire (350°F to 375°F) on a covered grill.

For consistent results we also use the cookout calculator at charcoalbob.com. Enter the details about your cookout, like the items to be grilled, type of grill and time you want to eat. It will give you instructions for how to grill things like steaks, boneless chicken breasts and pork chops so that everything comes off the grill at the same time, cooked the way you want it.

There are many sources for grill reviews online, like epinions.com and Consumer Reports. We've also found the guys at the major home improvement and hardware stores to be very knowledgeable about the grills they sell, too.

I think you are actually asking about grills?

I did a bunch of research to buy one the other day as a gift. Target sells a stainless model for under $300 that rates in the top 10 of Consumer Reports and is listed as a "Best buy". The brand is Thermos, but it's made by Charbroil.

Home Depot's Charmglow line rates pretty well too.

I have a weber silver C version. was $299 I think. but that was 4 years ago. I have had a weber of some kind most of my life and it is the best grill I have ever had. nice even heat, no hot spots, etc. love the cast iron enamled grates better than stainless. They clean up easier.

for a carolina kinda sauce, we use Maurice's www.mauricesbbq.com

for a more tomato-y sauce, I absolutely love Sweet Baby Ray's honey bbq sauce. It is sold in most grocery stores, about $2 for a 12 oz bottle
