I'm trying to go Vegan, mostly vegetarian though. Not fully vegan because I have to wear certain shoes to work (leather), and certain things might not be totally cut out, but really cut back on (cheese and eggs mostly). I already drink soy milk, haven't eaten meat in a week (not a problem).

I've tried this before though, and out of convenience (live in in laws cooking for me) I kind of strayed off the path...this time I think I'm doing better, I've gotten recipes, etc. and feel more strongly about it than before.....but does anyone have any tips to help me stay vegetarian this time?? Things to say to my in-laws when they cook a big pile of chicken?? Good recipe sites?? And how hard is it to make the jump from vegetarian to vegan?? any advice would be nice..

oh, I chose to do this because of animal cruelty and also because I want to be healthy.

First off I am 27 years old and of legal drinking age. Secondly, I am wanting to switch to whiskey as a casual drink but am unsure of how to take it. Usually I order a coke and rum but now I'm wanting to switch it up to whiskey and I'm not sure how to order it. Whiskey on the rocks? Jack and Coke? Please give me some ideas. Also, what is a good but not too expensive brand of whiskey that I can sip and enjoy at home?

i get cashew nuts from my local market, and i was wondering if you could eat them raw. When i mean by raw, i don't mean 'raw' as in still in the red shell, but i mean should we heat it or dry roast it ..etc.?

I love bread, but I don't want to support companies that use yeast that are kept in inhumane conditions. I can't find any breads that indicate that they use free-range yeast and I can not BELIEVE that the FDA doesn't require them to inform consciencous consumers of the treatment of these magestic organisms. i live in a university dorm in south africa (so its warm weather here) i don't have a fridge as yet but until i get one, i need to store my vegetables as long as possible. i've tried just about everything i can think of! what vegetables apart from carrots and potatoes have a natural long shelf life and how can i keep them fresh without a fridge?
