i just bought some clemintines and not for the first time they have green at the top of them that makes me think theyremout of date is this true or ios it just me i get them from a good big branch superstore so surely they have new stock in every day or keep it at least fresh ?

they are also soft well some of them but i reckon this type of clemintine are soft because oranges are really hard where as tangerines are soft is that right

Cut 'em opem and smell 'em. If they pass that test, taste them.

If they're slightly green, then they're not entirely ripe, which is okay. If you wait a little while, they'll be alright.
As far as telling if they're past their freshness, look for signs of mold, or soft spots.

When some oranges are green it means they are sweet. They go soft when they are getting to old.

Green is picked to early. But not unfresh. Wash them and dry them to make sure that fungus doesn;t occur quickly as can happen with citrus.
