Food & Drink - 11 February 2007

Hey you guys, I'm making a Chocolate Raspberry Tart, and for the crust I need pastry flour. Problem is my grocery store doesn't carry it and I don't have time to go all around town to find it. Will it still be ok to use all-purpose? I also have some cake flour and bread flour. I know bread flour won't do the trick, but perhaps cake flour would be better to use than all-purpose? Thanks!!!

I have a jar of dried sliced beef from Armor. Someone told me I can make creamed chipped beef from it on toast. she told me a funny name that it is also referred to but that involves swearing so I cant really say it. all i can say is s**t on a shingle. does anyone know how to make this? The way it was discribed to me it sounds really good.

I accidently swallowedmy gum in class and this one kid told me it takes 7 years to digest?!?!
Is it really THAT bad to swallow?
I know its not good to swallow it but what will happen if you swallow gum?

right heres my situation!!

ive had 4 cans of carling, and now have a bit of a taste for the old beer!!
the wifes not a great fan of drinking but i am,,, occasionaly i might get drunk and stay out late but nothing too stupid,,,

anyway the wifeys not back for maybe 2 hours or even 3, as shes at the monster in laws,,,,

but ive no beer left!!


what do i do???

do i go pub for a few swift ones????

or do a little house work????

please help me choose my best course of action!!!!!

I dont know how to cook but I know that I need to learn how. I never know what to buy at thegrocery store because I have never cooked. The only think I really buy is junk food and I know it cant be good for us. I really want to be able to have something ready for my husband when he gets home from work but I dont have any ideas about what to cook. I'd like to cold brew a coffee concentrate (not syrup, something like espresso but cold) to reduce the amount of acidity in the coffee. I am brewing up a Porter and would like to add coffee to it for flavor and I've read that cold brewing and/or steeping produces the smoothest coffee flavor w/o the increase in caffeine and acidity. Caffiene is not a big deal to me but the acidity is.

Can this be done w/o purchasing any additional hardware? I have whole beans and a plain coffee grinder (no settings). I also have a french press and a regular drip coffee maker.

I would like to know what amounts to use and how fine I should grind my coffee beans before doing this thanks!

Im not sure just how it is made. I bet their are some of you out their that work in a taco bell or know how this is made and what I am talking about. To me it looks like they take refried beans, throw on some taco sauce and shredded cheese and heat it up I would guess in a microwave. sounds simple but Im not sure if that is exactly what it is or not. can somebody help me
