What is the expiry time on protein powder (i.e. a whey protein weight gainer) ?
I bought some almost 2 years ago which supposedly expired in July but I was at the supplements store and the person at the cash said that protein doesn't really expire as long as it's stored properly and that they put an expiry date on it because 'everything in Canada has to have an expiry date'. This protein is unopened still in the oroginal container and I was wondering if I should give it a try?

Roast Chicken with Root Vegetables

The Problem: When it comes to roasting chicken with vegetables, killing two birds with one stone usually means victimizing the veggies. They may be chock-full of chicken flavor, but they're also usually awash in grease and overcooked to mush.

The Goal: We wanted a recipe that gave each component the attention it deserved--not just the chicken. We felt the dish should comprise juicy chicken meat, crispy-thin skin, and vegetables infused with chicken flavor, not just chicken fat. And we wanted enough chicken to feed a hungry family, which required chickens that weighed in at 6 to 8 pounds.

The Solution: First, we needed to adapt both our classic brining and roasting methods to accommodate a big bird. Upping the concentration of the brine to 1 1/2 cups of both salt and sugar per gallon of water produced a fully seasoned chicken in just two hours. Adding garlic (two full heads) and six bay leaves to the brine produced a huge improvement in chicken flavor (interestingly, the enzyme responsible for garlic's characteristic bite is deactivated in the presence of very high concentration of salt, so there was no "garlicky" flavor, just a more intensive chicken flavor). The best and easiest way to roast the bird was to maintain a steady temperature of 400 degrees, rotating the chicken to allow for the white meat to cook at the same time as the dark meat. But what about the vegetables? The answer was a divorce. After removing the chicken to rest, we preserved the fond (browned bits) that was encrusted on the bottom of the roasting pan, and held it aside while initially roasting the veggies in plain vegetable oil (roasting in chicken fat made them sodden and greasy tasting). We restored the chicken flavor by adding the fond back for the last 10 minutes of cooking time.

Other than a rather pathetic tetort "you'd better hope we never meet in person", I have had no response from him to my challenge. I was rather hoping we could meet in person, so that he could "prove" to me how strong, fit and healthy he is on account of his meat inclusive diet, particular in comparison to me on my vegan diet.

If you know him, or indeed if Foxhunter guy is reading this, I really am quite serious - I think it would be very educational for you to get yourself into a gym and test your fitness levels.

I also think I would be able to bring you round to see that it is possible to be very fit and healthy without the inclusion of animal products in your diet.

I don't know if you are UK based, but I'm 100% serious. In fact, I think we should have a vote - who thinks foxhunter guy and I should compete in some physical challenge?

it seems like you have to be scard these days to eat organic or even regular fruits and vegetables these days. These are the healthiest foods on the planet as they are mother natures gift to us. However with e.coli scares and samolnella going around what the heck are we suppose to eat these days??? Or is this a propaganda ploy set out by the FDA to tarnish the image of organic food companies since they are not endorsed by the FDA???

I've heard that there was a lot of controversy over the "microprotein" that they consist of : studies that it raises the bad cholesterol levels and that no one it certain if it is good for a person since it is fungus. If true, does anyone have any other suggestions of products that taste as great (quorn products taste excellent)?

I love Boca products -I think they're the best. I was just looking for additional options. Is there such a thing as vegetarian bacon & turkey, and if yes what does it taste like. Also, has anyone ever tries a recipe for homemade tofu bacon with liquid smoke? Just wondering because someone highly recommended the recipe.

I mean, it's a practical question! None of this atheism/philosphical/technical question business! I just would like to know if there's somewhere I can get a decent cup of coffee on Rochdale, Greater Manchester, UK.

Someone must know.

Thank-you.
