Why is sugar sweet? it just is that's why.

Scientists have known for years that the human tongue distinguishes different tastes like sweet, bitter, salty, sour an usami. (Usami is the sensation the tongue gets from foods that have had mono sodium glutamate added to make it taste better, eg Chinese and Indian foods, Mac Donalds and KFC). Until recently they have understood sweet, bitter and salty but not sour. They have now found that a certain protein named PDK2L1 is responsible and is one of those found in lemons, hence the sourness.

Lemons taste sour because that's the way God made them. All fruits and vegetables were made to have a different taste and contain vitamins and minerals that are healthy for us.

coz of the citric acid ...its acidic(duuh) so it reacts with the tongue telling your brain its sour. lemons are very good for you as they help your disgestive system- the same kinda thing as the acids in your stomach...personally i prefer limes...i can just cut a lemon in half and just take a bite out of it theyre my favorite!
