Friends - January 2007

I'm the 26 year old, a girl. I used to baby-sit the 14 year old. I met her the day she came home from the hospital. Now that she's older, we're friends. Our families are close. She's like a little sister to me, but we're also good friends.

We're talking about taking a road trip out east for about a week. She really wants to do this and so do I. We're going to talk to her parents more about it later this week. At first her parents didn't seem to like the idea that much, but now her mom was saying she probably can, she just has to pay for it all herself, which she knows.

So I'm just curious how many people would let this happen? You've got to remember, you've known the 26 year old for most of her life. I spent a lot of time baby-sitting her. Even when I wasn't baby-sitting, I spent a lot of time over there. Her mom is like a second mom to me.

Hi, my boyf got so upset over something really little the other day including my mate who is a boy, and a webpage, where I merely asked how he (my mate) was doing. This was in a non-flirtacious way. Upon seeing the message, he shoved me on to the floor and threw whatever he could at me. I thought he was being rediculas, so I started laughing. I couldnt help it.

Next thing he grabs my bags and shoves them out of his appartment door and grabs my hair and does the same to me. I was like what do I do.

It was only a stupid comment that was meant to be chatty. It wasnt intended to be flirty etc. So I grabbed my bags and drove to the supermarket, where he follwed me and we talked, and I stupidly ended up staying with him.

Is this abuse? Im really stressed due to university work at the moment, and I dont think I can cope with everything. I think it started to affect me becuase I think about it 24/7 and I think about the lack of self respect I have for myself...

Please help

I've been this way for over a year and its annoying to see people making fun of emo kids and music. Okay she painted her nails black...and thats IT. No outrageous hair or clothes or jewelry...JUST NAILS! And Shes like "Look!! I'm Emo!!" and its actually rude to be doing that. I feel like slapping her. Then when someone asked her..."Why are your nails painted black??" She goes..."Oh im EMO now..." but she was joking around and laffing. She wears mini skirts n is a giant prep. This other girl that I noe has been spreading around that shes emo...and she never was and now she comes up...Oh im not emo anymore...people just cant DO that!!

So I want to noe wat to do. Im not letting it be because she needs to learn a lesson. Im not taking it. Any advice??

There was this girl from back in the days, when I was young, and I liked her so much( I was only 13 then!) and now she's out of reach.
She knew this, cuz the whole school was talking about it- ( she even came to meet me after someone fixed us up) but I just
didn't have that courage to tell her.And I was really really shy back then.But now I've had my fair share of girls, and I can't get the girl out of my mind- it's 7 years later!!
Am I crazy, or does that happen? I keep asking myself what would've happened if I told her I had a crush on her!

Would you do this as a freshman in college at 18 years old??

So i have this plan...for over the summer. My friends and i were talking about how much we missed our childhood. And i came up with this idea to play all these kids games over the summer at a local park.

-My plan is to play: Capture the flag - both teams are going to have different colored shirts on right..and instead of tagging people...we would use paint. Fill water balloons and such with paint....and that would show if you got tagged.

-We were also going to play 4-square, parachute, tug of war, a big game of basketball and dodge ball.-

--i haven't really told my friends about this yet....
I'm kind-of embarrassed and feel they might think it's stupid. If you were 18 and a freshman in college would you think this was a stupid idea? Do you think it's a stupid idea? Tell me what you think before i go and tell them....about it

this was in the summer. it was like the first day of camp working with the mentally disabled people and we were all on edge. We were way behind schedule, it was like already 2 o'clock at night and I was tired as hell and wanted to go to sleep. So this dutch chick comes into the room and starts talking to another dutch guy in dutch and giving him a foot massage. I just went ballistic and cursed like hell. Anyway I didnt talk to her for the rest of the summer.

So I moved to the US last year, and there's this best friend I had, who I told everything,kinda like the brother I never had. He was a grade lower than me, so after I graduated Highschool, He was in his final year.To cut the long story short...I disappeared, didn't even contact him.For one whole year! After I told my friend that I was in love with him, things kinda changed. We treat each other kind of dry. Constantly argueing over stupid stuff and our conversations are blah. we just stay there on the phone not talking. so yesterday he asked me what was wrong with us. I said nuttin. My best friend is completely depressed because one her closest guy pals has been forbidden from having anything to do with her by his girlfriend. Basically everything was fine until another friend let slip to his girlfriend that years ago they had a one night stand. It was absoultely years ago and they were only ever mates - nothing in it whatsoever - just a drunken fumble when they were both single and he had never even met this new girlfriend. The girl has now forbidden her boyfriend from having anything to do with my friend and this means she has been cut out of the social circle more or less completely. We are all in our 30s and this situatin is just silly - I feel so bad for her and have advised that she talks to the girlfriend. Can anyone else offer advice on this one?

for many years i never forgot about this guy i went to jr high school with.recently we got back in touch and not to sound cruel but hes not anything special,hes just as immature and silly as he was then.i find myself not really liking him too much,even now that we,re back in contact i still dont understand what made him stick in my mind all these years.anybody got any ideas what it could have been? by the way he and i have never ever dated.

From the time I have been going to pre school I had trouble socialising with people of the same sex ,as I was most interested in guy stuff like playing video games, sports and so on, in my later years, I still liked doing that sort of thing, some girls thought I was weird because I didnt like the 'girly stuff' , however guys of all kinds still use to fancy me, and it made my situation worse because the other girls got Jealous now I am 20 years old, I still like to do the guy stuff but I like to do the girl stuff too,the clothes,shoes, nails, but I have gone past the stage of making friends, and I dont really have any gilrfriends my age I have 2, one i tolerate, the other has kids and relationship problems, so she is quite busy, I mean i cant posibly talk to the guy friends I have about certain things, what do I do? How can I develop a long lasting freindship, I lose interest very quickly and I have trust issues, as in my opinion women tend to back stab alot from experience.

I think I may have broken the trust of my coworker, "Cathy". She mentioned in confidence to me that she was thinking about leaving her job because she was frustrated. I mentioned to "Sally" (a coworker and friend) that I was worried about Cathy because she seemed frustrated with work, and said that I was worried that she might think about leaving if the frustration continued. I did not say anything about Cathy confiding anything in me, nor did I flat out say that she was leaving or even that she had said she was thinking about leaving. Apparently, Sally mentioned my conversation with her to Cathy today, and distorted some of the conversation we had. Cathy is really mad at me (sent me an email). I don't feel like I broke the confidence, but I've been wrong before.

Did I infact break the confidence Cathy confided in me? I have to see both of them today. What should I say? Should I say anything? Should I trust Sally again? What should I do to make this up to Cathy?
