The fact that electronic devices in standby modus are responsible for a substantial power use, why do most manufacturers off these products leave us with the only option off pulling out the power cords to save electric power?

If this is a well known fact, then why don't we say bye bye standby allready?

I have always used foil instead of plastic clingwrap thinking it was bio-degradable and hence more environmentally friendly. However, I spoke to someone the other day who said the foil is treated and not actually bio-degradable at all. Does anyone know for sure?

Basically nowadays people don't get enough exercise and many pay to exercise. If we could offer people free exercise and at the same time a way to help their communities would they do it? What I am proposing is using human power to turn turbines to create some energy. I know it wouldn't be a lot of energy but the benefits would be more than the energy produced. Imagine a place in a city where people interested in exercising could go and join a group of other people doing laps walking or running pushing a wheel. For the wheel to turn everyone would have to help out. This could be done in schools too. Kids to get a half hour of exercise a day turning the wheel. Okay it is a bit crazy. But could anythign like this actually work? Could enough energy be created by a school wheel to provide lighting for the school?

Hawaii, out of all of the states, has the ability to use the most alternative energy sources. they have geothermal energy and they have huge 20 foot waves that they can use as energy. Yet they are still 92% dependent on fossil fuels . tell me how that makes sense. they could save tons of money and their pretty beaches if they switched to alternative energy.

We hear about the problem everyday, our landfills are filling up faster than the trash will decompose. If we don't change our ways the waste system will become overwhelmed. So if people know this then why do they continue to produce and throw away so much trash?

I understand why consuming less energy positively affects the environment, but if you live in an area where water is very abundant, what benefit does it serve to use less of it (besides maybe less energy to pump, et cetera)? We don't really ship excess water to arid regions do we? It is recycled right?

Do you think that we sould; as a society, focus more on finding more resources for energy? i.e., Drill for more oil, further develop foregin exchange of oil, etc.
Or is it your opinion that we should focus on further developing alternative resouces for energy? i.e., solar power, wind power, alternative fuels, etc.
