I've decided that it is environmentally sound and much cheaper than using the expensive coffins which require concrete liners among other things. From dust to dust I say. Some cemeteries are now offering a "green" area for this type of burial.

High-denisty or lower density living

Isn't that the real question that everyone would like to know concerning green living?

I hate using the plastic bags we get at the grocery store or where ever. If they can invent such a horrible product that never disintegrates for 1000 years, why can't they invent one that WILL???It seems simple enough. We could prevent all that plastic from blowing around and sitting in landfills all over the world. Who can stand up to the challenge? Anyone??? Who was the fool that invented these in the first place? And did they know the damage it would cause in years to come?
Let's do something about it!!!!!!

And who gets the fleet? The government? A private taxicab operating company? Who takes ownership of the fleet of green taxicabs? Can I start a taxicab company in Hastings NE and apply for receipt of the green taxis?

So Hastings NE is the greenest city in the US? I wonder if it might be a better idea to have Yahoo help them with their web site, since it still bears a 2002 copyright notice. You'd think that they'd at least put out a press release on their web site indicating this high honor from Yahoo!, but there's nothing there.

Whilst disposing of my waste paper in the recycling point I noticed that somebody had stuck an unauthorised notice on the facility.

This notice warned that recycling was such an environmentally damaging process that we should not do it. It was quite cleverly worded too, and in these days of "greenwash" it was quite easy to be sceptical at first. THE IMPORTANT THING IS, THAT IT IS MISLEADING!

This article sums it up pretty well:

http://www.foe.co.uk/resource/briefings/paper_recycling.html

Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and other environmental groups give paper recycling their backing.

There's employment opportunities with recycling.

In fact, the only ones who suffer from recycling being chosen ahead of landfilling are those who manufacture paper from virgin wood, and those who cut down trees.

I just wanted to warn anyone who might (understandably) worry that they were not using the best environmental option to dispose of their waste when they recycle.

I would consider switching to the CFL lightbulbs but I want to be sure I can notice a savings on energy cost before I make the investment of buying these new lightbulbs. Also, are you getting the same amount of hours usage as regular bulbs, do they last as long as tradition lightbulbs. Thanks all.
