i use recycled papaer!!
its easy to make and gr8 fun
you take all tit-bits of old newspapers
tear them up in small pieces and then take a large bucket containing water and throw all these pieces in it. wait for them to stick to one another
{PS:my special tip is to add a bit of glue to the water}
then take them out ,spread them in a metal sheet and let them dry
and abracadabra.........
you have a whole new set of recycled paper to use
and its just the perfect gift to give to your friend ..a handwritten note on a handmade paper

I've been recycling for a while, but lately I've been trying to focus on reusing & just not using when not necessary. If at all possible when at the grocery store, I carry my items out, or reuse a paper or canvas bag. The water tip is a good one though, I'll have to start doing that!

Try putting a glass jar in your toilet tank (not the bowl where you pee in!) to reduce the amount of water used per flush by that amount. Leave the cap off so the jar stays full of water. A plastic bottle with stones on the bottom might work, but not as well. Don't put in bricks because they dissolve and the dissolvings can screw up your plumbing.

I precycle. I avoid purchasing products with wasteful packaging. Too often stores market for convenience, not environmental health.
We are installing rain barrels this winter to recapture rain water coming off the roof. Right now some of this water is absorbed but most runs off into the street. We'll use the water for plants in the spring.

Our family rule is that we must try to find a second use for an item before it is disposed of/recycled.
For example:
Yogurt containers & glass jars become storage container for other foods, nails, gardening supplies etc.
Old clothes are either resewn into something else or turned into cleaning rags.
Junk paper is turned into scratch pads or art projects.
Gift wrap and ribbon is ironed and used again.
Finding a second use for something is preferable to recycling ~ and it's amazing how much of our things can be reused.

I recycle cans, bottles and glass..hey you get money for it and your doing a good deed!!
1 can in hawaii gives me 5 cents! =) since they started charging the extra tax thats when everyone recycles!
I also use egg cartons for my paint...I pour my paints in the carton and use that as my pallet.
you could also save the bread twisters..you know the ones you twist to close the bag? you could save those for basically anything..if you plant you can hold together flowers so they will stay straight. I save containers..Like butter containers, peanut butter containers...any container that can be washed I save for other foods or my art supplies. =) if you take clothes to the dry cleaners you could also save the tissue paper they use for gifts or for anything else.
there is also this cool site online that you could give your stuff to people who recycle them..
freecycle.org
have fun recycling!!
also vinegar is a great cleaning product instead of buying pinesol or chemical goods. =)

I recently started using the website 'freecycle' where the idea is instead of taking something to the tip you 'gift it to some one, this is in an effort to reduce the amount of stuff that goes to land fill sites. (can save you alot of money too)
So far I've gifted a bike and a baby walker and we've been gifted some plants! it's a bit like ebay but free and no bidding!give it a try, if there isn't one in your area you can start one!

This is not really a recycling tip, just any energy saving tip. The louder you turn up the volume on you TV or radio, the more energy the device uses, so keep you volume at a reasonalbe level to conserve

My best tip is to buy recycled products, like paper towels and garbage bags. The big problem with recycling is the market for what's recycled.

The best tip is to buy as many things as possible that don't have to be recycled. For example, fresh fruits and vegetables instead of canned or frozen ones.
