"950W of power at 45km.hr winds
Delivers 100 Kw / hours a month at an average wind speed of 5.4 m/s
Adjustable voltage (12/24/36/48V)"

Can someone please tell me what that means? And my question is would you be able to indefinitely power a small fridge, a TV and other things on that wind turbine which costs $3 000?

What neat ideas do you have to cut down on the amount of household wastage? Have you come up with any little tricky ways of recycling things in your home?
Here are a few i thought of....
Gardening Pillows......Use those plastic bags you inevitably end up bringing home when you forget to take your cloth ones shopping by stuffing an old pillow case full of them ( overstuffing works best) and stich it shut...this creates ideal pillows to cushion your knees when working in the garden.
Old records....place the record atop a heat proof bowl and heat at full in the oven, the record will melt and create a cool bowl for any use..( under pot plants, fruit bowl, etc..)
Paper....pulp and set in brick molds use in the fireplace....
Wogga Rugs...use old woolen clothes to make big thick blankets( 2-3) layers all darned together and put in doona cover...
Rag mats...
I have heaps more..if you are interested email me...
Can you share anything you do?
Thanking you!

According to Wikipedia, it takes more energy to create a solar panel than that panel will create in its lifetime. Is this true? I can't think of any other reason why every rooftop in my home of the American Southwest wouldn't be covered with solar panels.

I don't know, maybe fruit flies, because they like to hang around my glass of iced tea or wine. But maybe midges or knats or something else tiny. There's not many, but they annoy me, flying between me and my computer screen, resting on the rim of my glass, and just generally being pests. Short of chemical warfare that might be worse for me than their presence, what would you suggest to rid me of these pests?

The reason I ask is I live in the Country and we and others bring our small amount of recyclables to the drop off center. now we might each have a few pounds of tin, paper , aluminum and so on. But, think of the gas it takes to drive up there, the time spent, The three or four people that have to be paid by tax payers to work there. I just think the cost and the waste of other resources to do the recycling a lot of times make it counter productive.

Recycling aluminium saves 95% of the energy cost of processing new aluminium. One recycled glass bottle could generate the power needed for a whole house for a day. Powerful knowledge if used right.
