Yes the milk is delivered at around 1 A.M. so it's there first thing when you get up and is nice and cold as it's been sitting out all night.

Not currently, we do have one in the area, but I prefer to go to the dairy myself and pick up the milk as I may not be home when they come by. This is only temporary as we have our own milk goat, but will have to wait until we breed her and she has the babies to get the milk.

I think this is a positive thing, and does support the local businesses, in addition, the dairy that I frequent is hormone free. This is important to me, primarily because my four year old began developing breasts last year and her peditrician said it was due to the hormones in the meat and dairy products. Apparently the USDA allows these things, even though more and more girls are going through puberty at an earlier age (starting at 6!). I instantly switched to Promised Land Dairy Milk.

We are already losing too much of our traditional lifestyle, it is sad that many do not see the beauty and practicality of having a milkman, using local dairy products or having your own milk goat. (i.e., over 70% of the world uses goat milk, it is only here in the US that we use primarily cow milk).

Now if I could only find a milkman that would deliver hormone free goat milk, I'd be set....

No we don't as we buy organic milk from the local farm. The milkman in our area started delivering only 3 days a week and then we never knew what time so milk could be left on the step in the warm so went 'off'. Organic milk is great, even though it's more expensive and you have to travel a few miles to collect it, but can recommend it to everyone.

I did, but I've just cancelled it.

The feeling was that the bottles are re-usable, the foil top is recyclable, I don't run out of milk and the guy delivers it in an electric vehicle. I also ordered organic milk.

The reality was that the guy delivered it in a diesel van and didn't come until after 9am - after we've gone to work. Over winter this was fine but during the summer the milk got warm in the sun and started going off very quickly. I might resume my delivery come winter.

Milk deliveries are actually quite advanced these days - it's all done by computer so you can have any milk on any weekday and they also do more than just milk.

I only buy milk in plastic bottles now because the council will collect them for recycling - unlike Tetra-Pak style cartons.

I did for a little while but kept running out of milk at the weekend and ended up having to go to the shop. Plus i work in a supermarket anyway. It is expensive from the milkman also.

We get milk delivered by our milkman twice a week, and it's organic. He delivers about half four in the morning so it's not left in the sun all day, and it's a bit more money that I'm keeping away from Tesco/Asda/Sainsbury. Bonus! And still delivered in a good old-fashioned electric milk float too.

haven't seen a milkman in years. Supermarkets sell milk as a loss leader to get people in to the store. I feel sorry for the poor dairy farmer, getting ripped off like that.

We used to, but the time they delivered was bad (early morning delivery when we were at work). Now we make an effort to buy local, organic milk at the super market.
