The earth has provided us with everything we need to survive, yet we treat her like she was our own Cinderella. We have treated her like she was our personal servent instead of the beautiful princess that she really is. If we do not have her in our lives, then we have no lives to live.
Help safe our plante from us!!

I love the Cinderella analogy!

I can almost understand how the earth was so badly mistreated in past centuries, but nowadays we're supposedly more educated and we know we're inflicting an incredible amount of harm on the planet. Even Cinderella's nasty stepsisters didn't go that far.

We as a species behave as do children of privilege. We expect the planet to provide, and we don't want to deal with the flotsam we create in our path to "improve" our lives. We expect someone will clean up after ourselves.

It's so wonderful that so many good people care and work to help the planet. Not everyone is spoiled. But the earth's caretakers are usually not the revolutionary type. People need to step away from their ipods and their plasma screens and rediscover the wonders this planet has to offer. Maybe only then can we get the spoiled to wake up and set Cinderella free.

Camphelp, I checked the 3 postings and they're in 3 different categories. Each generated a different number of responses. To get a feel for what different kinds of people are thinking, you need to ask a question in different categories. Lighten up!

Gee whiz did you put this question in just about every section that might relate to your speach?
But yes I do agree. We are so so I don't even know what word to use. So, I guess, yeah we are spoiled. I mean, we really need to start taking care of the planet otherwise the planet won't take care of us.
Save the polar bears (this is how I sign things because polar bears are my fave animal and they are dying from global warming),
Gracey
P.S. I am glad that someone like you is concerned about it. I just wish the word could spread.

At the live earth concert this weekend, AL Gore told all of us that we must pledge to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions in all of the developed nations by 90% compared to what it is today.

That means we must shut down all motorized transportation. there can be no automobiles, motorscooters, motorcycles, buses, trucks, trains, planes or shipping.

Next, we must shut down all manufacturing, steel making and cement making.

Next we must shut down the heating of our homes, factories and offices, even when it is below zero degrees outside.

Next, we must shut down the generation of all electricity that is generated by the use of fossil fuel.

Next we must stop the cooking of all food.

Next, we must stop the heating of all water that is used for washing and bathing.

Remember, if you use any water that has been heated for bathing or shaving, you are contributing to Global Warming.

You need to set a good example. Did you shower , bathe or shave this morning using water that has been heated, or did you bathe in cold water?

You must get rid of your furnace, water heater, stove and oven, including the microwave. Remove them and send them out to be recycled so that you cannot succumb to the temptation to use them.

Only if you do these things will you be doing your part to save the planet.

I was almost ready to agree with you until I saw that you posted the exact same question 3 times. Now I think of you as the spoiled person, greedily taking up 3 times the bandwidth you need to make your point. That is the problem in the world. Everyone wants more. One post wasn't enough for you, and one small car isn't enough for others. Everyone is greedy in different ways.
