If your intent is to be "more green" - If your refrigerator is still working then keep using it. If you throw away a good refrigerator you have more of a negative impact on the environment then if you continue to use it until it no longer can be repaired. You are also adding to the pollution caused by the manufacturing of your new "more green" one.

It does not matter how old your refrigerator is, you will never be able to pay off the cost of a new one based on energy savings.

10 years old.This goes for central heat and air conditioners.
This is because of energy and more costly failures.
