In some areas it would be more effective than in others. Here's a map that shows the wind intensity and frequency in different regions of the US:

Also, new wind turbine designs are way more effective than older styles.
As for places in which wind ISN'T as reliable, most of those places are more heavily sunned so they could actually balance out the problem with Solar power.

No. Most wind turbines are very small. Only 1-2 Megawatts and can only produce power when the wind is above about 6MPH. They require a tremendous amount of land area also.
One power plant can produce a thousand times the energy cheaper over all and can run anytime day or night. It also does not take up large areas of land.
The best alternative energy is Nuclear power combined with wind and solar in areas where they work best. It has the advantages of a power plant, and the only real pollution is having to store spent fuel. France, Japan, Germany, US, and other countries have been using these for years. Environmentalists killed the industry in the US. Those other countries now produce a majority of their power with them. If Japan and Korea didn't have Nuclear Power, you would not see all the Hyundai, Honda, and Toyota cars on the road. They have no coal or oil to speak of.

Doesn't quite work that way. Five reasons. 1. Wind turbines won't work everywhere. 2. The dense pack wouldn't permit transmission of power. 3. Solar technology is just on the brink of having collectors being able to be printed onto panels. 4. The Establishment's statists are still opposing it, using, lies, fake science, right-wing media freaks and Republican neocon votes in Congress. 5. Deregulation prevents liberals--"those concerned with the rights and freedoms if individuals, not dictator corporations"--from claiming their rights and taxing those polluting the nation. Thanks for asking.

No. It works better in European countries because most people live in urban areas and satellite cities. Suburbs of the Americas take up a lot more energy. For every house, we might need 4 windmills.
Maybe when everyone in the suburbs have solar panels and windmills on their house.
I think geothermal power will be more likely.

Wind turbines have not yet achieved the efficiency, especially during low winds.
Say a single wind turbine can produce 2MW, it needs 500 of them to match a single power plant chrurning out 1000MW.
It needs a very large land area to be able to power a single US city like NEw York.

yes. if you have a wind farm outside of every city it can power the u.s.a.'s energy needs. plus some of the biggest wind turbines in the world with propelers the size of football feilds and are as tall as a 20 story building. those can power about 1,400 homes or more. if we had some of those in the u.s.a. we could definately power the u.s.a's energy needs. that would have a huge impact.

Yes america has lots of land and they should be considering switching to renewable. Its big countries like that who pollut the enviroment so if they changed then any other country could.
Also they should use solar pannels becuase they would meet americas needs.

No. America's energy needs far exceed what can be provided from wind power alone. Solar, geothermal, and...??? will still have to be added.

Just a suggestion have you ever thought about compressing air. By putting multiple windmills in the pipe to compress. When the air leaves the end it could turn a bigger windmill.

Yes. I mean look at Berlin, and Europe with their tubines. It's very nice and energy efficent with them. I think it is a great idea.
