ok i just went to customise my yahoo avatar and came across gay pride gear. What bothered me is that yahoo said " check out gay pride gear with new leather outfits!" this bothered me because this is a sterypotype that all gay people wear leather. isn't this rude?

The leather and Levi's crowd is a very small percentage of the gay community. A subculture within a subculture.
Oh well, to each their own. Yahoo is just trying to cover all their users, no pun intended.

No more rude than most things Yahoo does.... Like pulling answers that they shouldn't have.... like never fixing chat problems.... like no real way to get a hold of them with a real problem.... like using us to test there new e-mail system that doesn't work very well yet.... like really being all about money....need I continue. Just be glad they do offer some FREE stuff....WELCOME TO PLANET EARTH.

All stereotypes have at least a bit of truth at their core. Are you sure that you aren't letting your own preconceptions/prejudices influence your thinking?

Yes,,,but people buy into stereotypes because of their need to 'fit in'. Too bad we can't all be ok with ourselves 'as is'.

It's "stereotypical" and I think it's just coincidence.
